Thank you for jumping to our defence. It really is very kind of you. I think what is important is that guests coming to the ranch have an appreciation of what we offer, but also of what we don't offer. The bears that we view are completely wild bears, mostly blacks in the spring, and mostly grizzlies in the autumn. We don't strive to create a contrived experience. There are places on the coast where bears are attracted in to artificial spawning channels with carefully regulated fish stock. The experience is a valid one and great for people who want to be as sure as possible of getting a decent bear photo. But what we do is completely different. We travel far and wide - on foot, in rafts, and using specialised off-road vehicles - to remote places where totally wild bears gather to feed, be it on salmon, berries, or lush green foliage in the avalanche chutes. The bears you will see with us are absolutely one hundred per cent wild and natural. But of course the experience will never be as predictable as a canned setting that bears are lured into. During four days with us in the autumn you can expect to be taken up into the alpine to walk through mountain meadows, float down wilderness rivers, and walk along river banks where few outsiders have been. Among the animals that you can expect to see are grizzly bears, deer and bald eagles and you may see black bears, moose, elk or even a big cat or a wolf. But no two trips are ever the same and we can't predict exactly how any one holiday will unfold. Sometimes we end up a few feet from a bear and, at other times, we watch them from a distance using binoculars. We can't guarantee wildlife - if we could it wouldn't be wild - but we can promise that what you will see be authentic and real. A totally wild experience is not everybody's cup of tea but for those who want to get away from the crowds and beyond the realm of managed wildlife, and who don't mind a little unpredictability, we think we offer a very special experience. Thank you again for your kind comments. Please come back and visit again.
