Dear Guest, thank you for you staying with us and for taking the time to express your opinion on your experience on Lake Como. Your review does bring up some valuable perspectives which I hope to be able to address. Your long and detailed post takes a long feedback from our side as well. LAKE COMO AND SURROUNDINGS Generally speaking it seems that the destination “Lake Como” did not live up to your expectations. I appreciate that the logistics of the area may be somewhat challenging compared to other destinations (with far less constraints due to the morphological conformation of region); at the same time it takes just a little bit of daily planning to easily get around the area. The above applies to many charming places in Italy (and many other countries); just to mention a few the Amalfi Coast and Cinque terre. The small roads, the historical development of the area over centuries, the hidden gems on the mountain sides, the stunning perspectives enjoyable from secluded locations are part of the magic of such destinations. This is to say that while many points of interest are scattered around the three branches of the lake there are various options to get around conveniently with or without a private car (the majority of our guests does not have one indeed). Our front desk makes significant efforts to provide guests with a clear understanding of the area at check-in (so much so that we have made our own maps to facilitate our patrons as much as possible). In terms of public transportation, please note that the bus stops right by the hotel, while the ferry is just a 5 minutes walk from property. The ferry is the best way to get around and limits the need for taxis (which are often needed to return to the hotel after dinner at night time). Our property was developed in this location as we believe that being close enough (and away enough) from the most famous and crowded areas offers great benefits: ease of access and yet a tranquil place to return to after intense days of visits. I am sorry to read that you did not find this to be a plus during your stay. As for your comments on “having to go Bellagio for a decent restaurant” I would like to highlight that we do have a great restaurant on property (well balanced between meat and fish options), while there is a pizzeria which literally boarders our property. In the town of Lezzeno there are 4 more restaurants. PROPERTY LOGISTICS Our property is located right on the shores of the lake. We are perched on the side of the mountain and offer great facilities: a pool, a beach, and a large parking, a marina. Not to mention that every single corner of the property is lake view. It is a matter of fact that there are stairs around the property (however not precarious at all); however elevators and ramps do offer alternatives for those in need of assistance. I must stress out that our property is a new development completed in 2015 (I would not know why the elevators are a “joke”). The property features a large underground parking (a rare asset on Lake Como) with an elevator to access directly the apartments: this does not mean you must go through the garage to access the unit; it rather gives you a convenient, quick option to get in and out. BREAKFAST Our aim is to offer our guests the opportunity to experience life as it is here: mostly in regards to food, aesthetics and culture. We intended to stay true to our heritage: breakfast too reflects this principle. Some international food options are available on the buffet (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages) and all products are of the highest quality, including the yoghurt. You will also find cheese, cold cuts, salmon, and a great selection of home made pastries together with fresh seasonal fruits. This is a property that stands for a specific ideal of tourism and at times we avoid the convenience of “globalized” products at our own risk and detritment. A DIVERSE, OPEN ENVIRONMENT In regards to the “incident” described in your review, I believe you mistakenly interpreted the situation. The kids and families you refer to were not Eastern European, not that it has any relevance. What happened is that a small group of kids was playing loudly (I do apologize for not being to stop this immediately) at the pool and must have interacted as kids sometimes do with other children they don't know, in a rough way. Is this racial abuse? I believe words ought to be used more cautiously. Aside from this, our pool attendant did take action repeatedly and asked the guests to have kids calm down; eventually the situation was resolved to everybody satisfaction. I am sorry to inform you that while we do our very best to guarantee rules are followed at all times, we cannot force anybody to leave (or to apologies to others) unless an offence takes place. Kids being loud are a disturbance we rarely have to deal with and we try to manage such situations at best. We certainly cannot impose to guests to apologise to one another; nor do we want to generate tense situations between them. Let me guarantee one more time that no racial discrimination has ever taken place here as it would not be tolerated. I do thank you for your feedback as I believe it is a valuable one which has allowed us as well to offer our perspective and provide useful insights to the readers. This will hopefully help readers gain a better understanding of the region and property, highlighting certain characteristics which define them. I hope that despite the mixed feelings you will keep a good memory of your stay here and hope to have you back in the future so that we may help you enjoy the area at best. With kindest regards, Alessandro Sironi
