Thank you very much for this valuable comment, I am very pleased to receive a review like this one. I really appreciate your honesty and I totally respect your point of view. Starting with the positive: I am a very lucky business owner. My staff is wonderful and they are not only my employees but I consider them to be like family, and I know that they will treat customers like family. I'm glad you like our food, we have recently changed our menu trying to keep affordable prices, our music nights, (fabulous) and our Wifi connection. By the way, if you read older comments you will note that we had wifi connection issues in the past, and we finally solved this problem! Not an easy thing to do in Costa Rica, so this is absolutely positive for us. Negative: The Christmas and New Years parking situation is a nightmare for everyone in town! Tamarindo is still a small village that does not have the capacity to receive so many visitors. Unfortunately, this applies to everyone in town. Mosquitoes: Yes they like Tamarindo too, like you! We fumigate regularly but in Tamarindo you need to use bug spray. Pricing and minimum stay: During Christmas and New Years, we require a minimum of 4 nights stay. This is the only time of the year we require this. I apologize for the miscommunication, we've made some arrangements in our webpage to be more clear about it. Regarding prices, Costa Rica is an expensive destination and Christmas and New Years is the peak of the season. It is the most expensive period of the year. Our prices start at $139 per night for 2 people with the breakfast included. Outside of this period, the same room costs much less. This is a very common, widespread, and unfortunately very necessary business practice in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is an expensive country, not just for travelers but especially for business owners, and December is a particularly high overhead month. I also encourage future customers to book directly with the hotel instead of using an online travel agent, which is more expensive. For those traveling on a budget, please note that Tamarindo is very pleasant between May and June with very little rain contrary to what can be read on the Internet. During these low periods, hotel Pasatiempo publishes special rates around $79 a night! I appreciate your taking the time to write and share your experiences, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel again! We are so happy to know that you had a good time at our place, and we hope to see you next time during a different period than Christmas and New Years. You will experience a totally different Tamarindo! Very kind regards to you and your family, hope to see you soon!! Pura Vida. Helene Jany
