The lead up to the hotel was certainly spectacular, the grouds being impressively manicured and the door staff were upbeat and unfailingly friendly. I booked one of the only two Royal Suites and was reminded on three occassions during my stay how lucky I was to have that room.

LaxmiNiwas Palace was commissioned by Maharaja Sir Ganga Singhji to serve as his royal residence. Designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, Built between 1898 and 1902, LaxmiNiwas Palace is constructed in an Indo-Saracenic style, an architectural movement popularized in the 19th century in British India. The Maharaja hosted numerous luminaries and dignitaries, including King George V and Queen Mary, the King of Greece, Viceroys, fellow Maharajas, and renowned statesmen. You will be glad to know that room renovation work is already in progress and the next time you visit us you find everything in order as you expected .
