Staff were SO anxious to please... very friendly! Like staying in a home vs. a B&B or hotel. Away from bustle of city but short drive. Did not give 5 stars as it needed a scrub here and there (worn carpet, dirty upholstery, mold on shower door, wondered if they had a cat?).

Kia Ora Mary, thank you so much for your review. We are glad to hear that we made your stay comfortable. We are 15 minutes drive from Rotorua town centre, which keeps the city noise and sulphur smell away. We take guests' feedback seriously and we agree with you that we need to update our carpet, which most likely will happen after the summer rush ends. We spend a lot of time on cleaning both the interior and the exterior of the house and it's the first time we've ever had negative comment on cleaniness, however it might be an individual item we overlooked, it would be fantastic if we received this comment during your stay so we could make things right. I also had a look at the shower door, I believe it might be the black rubber you were referring to rather than mould? We do have a cat that shares one of the staff rooms, Kitty knows she's not allowed in guest areas but she can be very inquisitive at times and sneaks in for a quick look, but please be rest assured that she never stays in guest areas. Room#6 is the only Estate Room in the lodge, we understand your frustration fully and will think of a way of putting rails around the staircase, we did hear from many guests who stayed in room #6 that they like how elevated the room felt with the staricase leading up. Thank you again for the comments, which help us improve. Please don't hesitate to get in touch during your next trip to Rotorua. Warm regards from the team, Patrick Lodge Manager
