Me and my other half stayed at the elderflower from the 26th-28th aug 16. You cannot knock the location of this place and the food is unbelievable! However we had a two night stay at the elderflower in the bluebell room and thought this high standard would carry on through to

Dear Abbie P Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are glad that you have enjoyed the food at the Elderflower, especially the full English which has been one of our pet projects with several homemade products (including our bacon, sausages, baked beans and bread). As the cooked breakfast demands a lot of preparations, we do start serving it a bit later indeed for both our guests and members of the public when we open our doors at 9.30am. On the other hand, I was a bit surprised to read your comment concerning the B&B. Having just been granted our fourth star by the AA for our accommodations and service, it shows that we take great care with this aspect of our business. All our rooms have been refurbished over the last 6 months and I personally inspect them, checklist in hand, before any guest gets access. After examination, the windows and doors work fine but, as you said yourself, it is an old quaint building and they might need a bit more strength to operate than the ones in a new structure. We also offer our guest to refresh the rooms and their facilities in the morning as it is commonly done in B&B’s and it is one of the main differences when compared to a hotel and its housekeeping service. It is up to each guest to take up on the offer. Unfortunately, without your permission, we didn’t feel right to invade your privacy. Had you asked us upon your return for fresh towels and to replenish the teas and coffees, we would have done so there and then. Although we are saddened that your stay with us wasn’t up to your expectation, we believe that at £85 per room per night, including continental breakfast, most people would think our B&B is very good value. But we are glad that it doesn’t deter you for coming back and sample our fantastic evening menu in the future. Kind regards, Marjolaine Du Bourg Restaurant Director
