One of the island's oldest villages, and unquestionably it's best preserved.
Visitors can get the best out of their visit with the Guide to Old Perithia [www.old-perithia] which includes a self-guided 1 mile (2.5km) circular walk around the village (available at all good bookshops and the B&B in the village itself), if you come on a 'tour' don't expect to see much more than a quick look at a little bit of the village, tour = touristy. There are 5 tavernas you can visit as it has visitors in the daytime, but to get a real feel of the village, do some research on its history, and spend time there walking around the whole village. Please park carefully, respect the local community, and please do not drop litter. Old Perithia is a Heritage Protected Site in a Designated Area of Natural Beauty. The village, 130 houses & 8 churches, One boutique bed & breakfast, The Merchant's House. The village is slowly and sympathetically being brought back to life by the support of the b&b owners
