Thank you for your review. I will answer your points one by one but feel I need to start by explaining two things. Firstly when any guest books through expedia or any of the other online booking sites they are offered the rooms that have not been refurbished yet. The room you stayed in tends to be the last room we let out as it is quite old-fashioned. The best rooms and deals are available when you book directly with us. We think the location is great. It’s got tram and bus stops either side, is right on the front, just near the shops, restaurants, bars, tower etc. The pleasure beach is just a short tram/bus ride away too. It’s also really quiet at night so you get a good night’s sleep. As we have been replacing the plumbing the radiator did need bleeding. Our staff should have cleaned up perfectly and we apologise if that was not the case. They most certainly should not have assumed that you broke the radiator. This staff member has been disciplined. The shower issue was a simple one and you should have been told that in this room the shower needs to be run for a while to get hot. The radiator in question has now had both valves replaced. You are right about the window catch, it was broken by a previous guest and is soon to be replaced. The metal strip was missed by us (since fixed) and clearly not OK at all but we did not find any loose nails. The mattress is new. Unfortunately, you cannot please everyone with mattresses. One person’s too hard is another’s too soft. We usually get compliments about the newer beds. A mug that is not clean is clearly unacceptable and we apologise. Fire assembly – we think the description is fine. There is only one large open space opposite the hotel. We are not sure how to make it any more clear. There were only issues with one room so there was only one refund given. I do not know what Expedia said to you but I do know what they said to us and they understood and were fine with what we proposed. We are very disappointed that our staff were not helpful. As a result of this (and one other) review we have taken the following actions: 1 Appointed a new Manager. 2 Disciplined one member of staff 3 Dismissed a third 4 Hired new and amazing staff!
