Dear CarolT_SG, Thank you for sharing your review on TripAdvisor, we take all guest comments very seriously and use them for further training and enhancement to services and facilities. Rest assured we will take your feedback to heart and look into the critics mentioned, and perhaps a few changes. I'm however pleased to hear that you found our staff to be to be helpful and went the extra miles when needed. The Borneo is a unique destination for a holiday and here at Gaya Island Resort, we pride ourselves on being a wild nature-friendly resort with the aim to ensure that guests of all ages feel valued, and at home, during their stay with us. Please accept my sincere apologies on the uncomfortable experience with sandflies during BBQ dinner. Our ground team work tirelessly to ensure we rake our beach daily to avoid this inconvenience, unfortunately coexisting with nature does not give us 100% guarantee. Thank you once again for your feedback and we look forward to having you back at the resort. In the meantime, do stay in touch with us through our Facebook page; you can find us under GayaIslandResort and please do keep an eye out for special offers on the Gaya Island Resort homepage as well. Feel free to share your photos with us on Instagram by tagging us (@gayaislandresort) or by using the hashtag #gayaislandresort. Till we meet up again, stay well. Sunny regards from the "Land below the Wind", General Manager Dennis Gordienko
