Dear S N, It is unfortunate that your Crane stay did not meet your expectations. Please be assured that your experience is far removed from our guests’ typical Crane experiences. Barbados also boasts a repeat visitation rate in excess of 40% - one of the highest in the Caribbean. It is unfortunate that you did not enjoy our island as much as the vast majority of visitors to our lovely shores. Crane Beach remains world-renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, and numerous past photos from our many guests, easily found online, attest to this fact. Our distance from other areas of Barbados is also a major part of our appeal, as the guests that love us truly come here to “disappear.” Very unfortunately, the Sargassum seaweed you observed, is a naturally occurring phenomenon. It is not affecting our typically pristine Crane Beach in isolation, but also the entire south coast of Barbados, as well as other islands in the Caribbean. At The Crane, in our efforts to ensure our guests’ are as happy as possible, we have implemented several measures to lessen the impact of the seaweed: - When there are very significant deposits, we offer our guests the option of a complimentary beach shuttle service to an alternate beach. - We use a small tractor on the beach for clearing, as early as possible in the morning, before the majority of guests are on the beach. - Our landscaping team assists in clearing on a daily basis. Despite these measures, the seaweed is a result of Mother Nature, and as a result we cannot predict when it will appear or disappear. We will continue to work assiduously to control it as far as is humanly possible. Regarding construction, we are continuing to develop our private residences, which guests are notified of on our website and post-arrival. Any noise factor from construction is restricted to weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note however that none of the public areas that guests typically enjoy, including the beach, pools, restaurants and Village, are affected by this development. We have a zero tolerance policy with regards to drugs on our beach, and your comments have been shared with our security team for a full investigation. Despite this unflattering review, we do hope that you return to Barbados and have the opportunity to experience the island as many others have, and continue to do. Warm regards, Sean Alleyne General Manager (Ag.)
