Although our rooms were not ready when we checked in after 3PM, staff were polite and helpful. Welcome drinks and cold towels were offered. As with most Thai beach resorts, the lobby area (and most restaurants) is not air-conditioned. It can get rather uncomfortably hot and

Dear skyrider88, Thank you for your long and wide ranging review of your stay with us at Cape Panwa and for your recommendation. We do appreciate your pointing out areas where you were disappointed as it allows us to review and adjust our operation to ensure total enjoyment for our guests. Allow me to address points now. Firstly, I apologise if you were inconvenienced during check in. It may be that we had a substantial number of guests arriving that morning and the room preparation took longer than usual. I will look into this to try and avoid a similar situation arising in the future. I will also ask Housekeeping to look at the containers for the complimentary toiletries and see if there is a way we can improve there as well. I am surprised with your comment that you could not locate our gym. Any of our staff, if asked, would have been willing to take you there. In fact, on your next visit, please take full advantage of our staff with any questions you have or information you require. There is a floating mattress available at the main swimming pool but no floating boards at the beach pool for safety reasons since that is an infinity pool. Once again I truly apologise if you felt inconvenienced by the dress-code at Otter’s Bar. We try very hard to provide a variety of venues to appeal to as wide a range of tastes as is possible as far as evening relaxation is concerned. We have found that many of our guests enjoy the open air dining experience since this is part of the style and charm of a holiday in a tropical location. There are also those who appreciate the opportunity to dress more formally sometimes for a cocktail while being softly serenaded by our resident musician in Otter’s Bar before moving to the Top of the Reef Restaurant for a formal fine-dining dinner. Nevertheless, as you note, there is the possibility of sitting on the terrace and enjoying a drink under the stars. I am pleased that the Lighthouse was to your taste. There is also the Dolphin Bar at our sister property Kantary Bar a mere 3 minutes away by the complimentary shuttle bus. The Dolphin Bar is enclosed with air-conditioning and has no formal dress code. Thank you for your recognition of the attentiveness and courtesy of our staff. I will pass on your appreciation and we sincerely look forward to welcoming you on your next visit. At Cape and Kantary Hotels, we actively support the Thai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and SOS Children’s Villages. We do not serve foie gras, birds’ nest or shark’s fin in our restaurants and we also stand firmly against the exploitation of Thai elephants for commercial or entertainment purposes. Sincerely yours, The Management
