    NM History Museum
Terrific museum in the heart of Santa Fe. The exhibits are arranged in chronological order detailing New Mexico history from its original inhabitants to current times. Everything is explained in English and Spanish and is in large print to make for easy reading. This is one of the better state history museums I have been to!

    FASCINATING HISTORY & WELL PRESENTED
We knew very little about Santa Fe and the southwest before our visit. This museum presented the region’s history in a concise, digestible and interesting way. The story of the events and personalities who made the West helped explain the various phases-native Americans, Spanish arrival, white settlers, Billy the Kid, etc. Highlights were the story of Fred Harvey and his hotels with the famous “Harvey Girls,” the Manhattan project, WWII and the code talkers, and the Governor’s Palace. Don’t miss this museum!

    Great museum, wonderful tour
This is a delightful museum, not too big, packed with New Mexico's history. What made this visit so special was a tour with Greg, a wonderful docent, who began by telling us that he would be talking about the exhibits that he found especially meaningful, and that he hoped we would enjoy the visit. I can't speak for any of the others, but Greg did indeed take me on a wonderful walk through the state's history! If you go, try to take a tour with a docent and hopefully you'll have as informative and fascinating visit as I did!

    Worth a visit
I visited for around an hour and a half when my son and I needed a break from each other on vacation. The museum was interesting, and a good way to learn about the history of New Mexico. I especially enjoyed the Segesser Hide paintings. Worth a visit.

Very informative, a classic history museum
This is a good, traditional history museum. If you work your way through the exhibits, you will learn a great deal There are interesting artifacts, and they are well documented. They have avoided the trend to make everything hands on, and thereby entirely useless. I only wish that there had been more on the period before the arrival of the Spanish.

Worthwhile visit for anyone interested the history of this area
I visited here recently, and thought that the museum had a couple of very interesting exhibits on the history of Santa Fe and New Mexico as well as some other interesting exhibits. There were also exhibits that were not of much interest to me but of course everyone will have different interests. The admission to the museum is also good for admission to the adjacent Palace of the Governors, and both are worth seeing if you're visiting Santa Fe.

    So much to learn
I had been visiting New Mexico for over a week when I visited this museum. I had heard some of the history from other museums I’d visited in New Mexico (I’m a museum junkie) but this museum went into more depth and filled in many gaps of history I had heard. The museum was multi story, way larger than I thought it would be. Plus it is connected to the Governor’s Palace which has a history all of its own. I thought this would be a quick trip to a small museum but I ended up staying 2 hrs. What a great resource for New Mexican history

  • New Mexico Museum Of Art Hotels
When the New Mexico Museum of Art opened in 1917 it was the first building in the state dedicated to art. Its galleries, reception areas and St. Francis auditorium were made by the people of New Mexico for the promotion of the state's rich culture to visitors and locals alike The architects Isaac Hamilton and William Morris Rapp designed the building as an enlarged and modified version of the building they made for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in San Diego. The style of the building, called Pueblo Revival, uses modern contruction materials made to look like the historic adobe churches found throughout the state's Pueblos. Throughout its century long history, the museum has grown and redefined itself to adapt to changes in art and museum practices.
