I visited Old Town San Diego on a beautiful Sunny morning in December. The weather was excellent we stopped by the visitor's center to get some information and learn more about the park. the employees were very nice and dressed in period attire to make the experience more real. We stopped at the candy store on the way to the museums and gifts ships. The schoolhouse and the small jail were on pour trip too and very interesting as well. I think my favorite was the courthouse because of all the fine details. I recommend trying the lemon taffy at the Cousins Candy Shop and the sampler platter at the Cafe Coyote. The visitor center has a history hunt and if you complete it then they give you a cool 11 views in 3D Then and Now look at Old Town Park. I went to the old town market and bought some silver earrings and a cute mint box with a traditional Mexican skull on it as well. I purchased the $4.00 dollar book for the visitor center to make my trip more exciting too, worth every penny.

Although not all sights were open, all staff were extremely friendly and helpful, informative and lovely. You don't pay admission, but prices for goods and snacks are VERY high. Not an isolated incident in San Diego. At least you can get a free parking space nearby and stroll through the historic place WITHOUT spending a fortune.

My visit to Old Town was for educational purposes. There I wish to find more information about the Kumeyaay, and the impact it had on the colonial development. I went to the guide and information, and I was given good information to where I can find more about the Kumeyaay. Unfortunately, certain places were closed. Though, I was able to visit the Land of the First People Park. I was able as well to use a tour guide with information online. In taking the tour guide that was able online, I noticed it had great information. Though, I wish there was more information about the Kumeyaay experience with the colonies. It had the information about the culture, and how they lived. I did not feel that it had the complete story. Instead of just how they sang to the river, I would want to know how they carried the language and tradition despite the hard affliction that they had to endure because of their culture. Though, I do appreciate how the online tour pointed out that, Old Town use to romanticizes history to bring money instead of history. I still feel it is still going on today, but their more information about from sides of the history. In the guide, there was another website that had more information on the reality of the Kumeyaay.

As the name suggests, this park’s rugged coastline features magnificent ocean views at sunset. Don’t miss the chance to explore the tide pools—be careful as some parts of the climb down can be uneven and steep. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is also a great spot to see gray whales passing by on their migration. There are drinking fountains throughout the park, but there aren’t any food establishments nearby—pack lunch as it’s a perfect spot for picnics. Expect crowds approaching sunset, and parking can be tricky late afternoon. You can take a bus there from Old Town instead of driving. – Tripadvisor
