    Wonder of nature
Always a stopping point yearly to this park where there used to be a few people and a few parked cars and now there are several lots, washroom and lots of people visiting this wonder of nature where waves have pounded the shoreline and caves formed. Watch your kids as you wander near the edge and I have young people jump into the water. There rocks you can see through the water. Be careful.

    "Must return".....
This was our first visit to this part of Door County, and it was an amazing experience. Even though it was a cool, yet comfortable day; being mid-week off-season, the amount of visitors was minimal. The views and sounds of the waves hitting the rocky coast was magnificent. (We asked a local person, who had brought friends to view the area, if the crashing noise from the waves was always so strong. She said this was the loudest she had ever heard it. Apparently the water and wind were in the right combination to hit the caves/stone just right; it was quite impressive.) Meandering along the uncrowded trail, above the shoreline, allowed for a satisfying immersion into the views and sounds around us. (It was a pleasant happenstance to watch an artist painting on his easel, by the water's edge.) This area is a definite "must return", on our next Door County visit.

    Nice time to relax
I grew up near Door county and had two brothers live in Sturgeon Bay. May is a great time to go before the summer traffic. I stayed in a great VRBO. Off the beaten path. I had family visit. I live the wineries and stopped at Cold Country, Von Stiehl, Island Orchard Cider, and Lake Fire. There is a winery trolley tour that will take you many different one in Door County. The wines are dry to sweet. I had brunch at The Log Den and it was wonderful, dinner at the Mill Supper Club. I had the Weiner schnitzel and it was very good. My sister had a ribeye but wasn’t as happy with the taste. They have a great Sunday night family style chicken dinner. Another WI tradition to try. I also went to Kitty O’Reilly’s Irish Pub for another dinner and had the open face Rubin sandwich. Very look. Nice interior and outside seating. Great relaxing time.

Great place to catch some Lake Michigan water spray
Had a great time with the kids (11 &17) hiking the park's trails. One of the trails had us walking along the cliff Lake Michigan. The water breaks over rocks, creating natural caves. A few waves were large enough to give us a spray all the way to the top of the cliff. The second trail took us into a natural woods setting where we treated to a variety of wild flowers.

    Beautiful rock formations
I visited early in the morning to have a better "nature" experience without crowds - and to avoid the heat of the day. The rock structure provides an opportunity to get close to the waves in several locations. You can see some of the caves carved by the lake's waves. To really enjoy this area, I would recommend renting a kayak or taking a kayak tour. Unfortunately, I did not have time to pursue this option.
