- Gaelic_GypsySeymour, Connecticut340 contributionsLocated just off of Broadway, the Johnny Cash Museum is excellent and well worth the visit. The cost (at the time of our visit was $25.95 ( + tax) and you certainly get your money's worth as you follow Johnny from his early childhood through the multiple facets of his career. As service member, musician, philanthropist, artist (yes, artist), family member, etc. you get an intimate look at the Man In Black. There is a very good representation of personal artifacts and music memorabilia that allow you to follow Johnny's life and career through various stages. Displays are carefully and meticulously labeled with many, many details and factoids, which make very interesting reading. For those not inclined to read the many placards, I would encourage you to take the time - they provide insight into a person I thought I knew but really did not. We particularly enjoyed the various small theaters or viewing areas where you could see and hear Johnny play, sing, recite, etc. In particular, the small area devoted to "That Ragged Old Flag" is beyond moving. The museum can be crowded, especially at the beginning where there is a lot of reading. The entry room has very interesting displays on both the left and right side of this narrow room and it is difficult to navigate from side to side. I would recommend moving down the right side to the end and then, as traffic permits, moving back to finish the left side later on. The crowds seemed to come in waves and we found it easier to come back to the left side after things thinned out. You can navigate back and forth between all the different rooms and display areas, so take your time and move to where the traffic is least and you will eventually get to everything - and it is well worth it. Many people also seemed disinclined to read the informational signs and display placards and were waiting for us to move on. We decided to stand our ground and enjoy each display to its fullest; those wanting to move on, could move around us at their leisure. In summary, this is a very good museum and well priced. We spent two hours in the museum and felt that we covered almost everything without getting overwhelmed.Thank you for joining us! - Rocky_lil Rhody5 contributionsMy partner and I spent nearly 3 hours in the Johnny Cash museum! It is said to allow an hour, 2 if you take your time through the self guided tour experience. We loved it. We took our time enjoying all of the exhibits, and enjoyed the many interactive exhibit experiences. We even back tracked a few times to our favorites! The Johnny Cash Museum was our favorite "paid for" activity during our first trip to Nashville in November. We even splurged on a souvenir photo, which is something we typically do not do. Near the photoshoot area, there was a covered area, being prepared for a new exhibit...I commented to a museum employee "that gives me a reason to return!" Not only do I recommend the Johnny Cash Museum, I will be back one day! I made some purchases for my son in the gift shop, and the employees were friendly. I look forward to sharing the museum experience with my son next year! Thanks for joining us! We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you'll join us again in the future to see all the new things we have in store!Written December 18, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten December 14, 2024
- Yujunzhu F4 contributionsJohnny Cash Museum is popular in Nashville . If you're interested in Johnny Cash , you're sure to visit this museum. You need to spend $30.34 on tickets. It's got history, photographs and a lot of used stuff about him. Johnny Cash Museum has a store where you can buy very special gifts, expensive and cheap. After business, there are hats in addition to clothes. (Tips: only credit cards and cash can be paid here)Visited October 2024Traveled with friendsWritten November 7, 2024
- KilburnTowersLondon, United Kingdom159 contributionsReally well laid out, with great artefacts. Small museum that allows you to immerse yourself in Johnny Cash's story for a couple of hours. I wouldn't claim to be a huge Johnny Cash (or even country music) fan but I got a lot out of this. Thanks, Robin! - GLENN S15 contributionsNot worthy of the Man in Black. I got the feeling the museum has not been there all that long. The staff restricts the number of people allowed in the museum at one time, and for a good reason. Very cramped. A good collection of memorabilia. The staff was personable and eager to engage visitors. For some reason, there was scant attention paid to the Johnny Cash: American albums from the later years, some of his best work. It is well worth a visit, but I felt let down a bit. With a couple of tweaks and a bigger space, this could be one of the best attractions in Nashville. Thanks for your feedback! We've been operating for eleven years now; officially endorsed by the Cash estate and named USA Today's #1 Music Museum in the US for the second year in a row. We appreciate you taking the time to visit and tour and are so glad to hear you enjoyed your interaction with staff!Written May 20, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 7, 2024
- CarolAnnAstleyKingswinford, United Kingdom176 contributionsThroughly enjoyed this journey through the JCash museum, so much data, colour and music to take in. As ardent J Cash peeps we abs loved it..loved…loved it. There were at times a few too many bodies in the same area and to stop and take in ALL the information that was being presented got a little tight. But a must see/do place 10/10.Thank you for your feedback and for joining us!Written October 15, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 10, 2024
- AnnieDiR17Buffalo, New York24 contributionsThis was such a comprehensive museum. So much to see and experience! I was so impressed by all the old letters and clothing. I think all his old letters were my favorite. I read every one. I would plan a couple hours and if you need a break from all the info you can sit and watch him play in one of the rooms that is a small theatre. Really well done! Worth every cent!Visited March 2025Traveled soloWritten March 8, 2025
- Levi JamesGlasgow, United Kingdom19 contributionsReally wanted to visit the Johnny Cash museum, really enjoyed walking around and finding out all about his great life! A lot of interactive moments as well throughout the museum. The only complaint was wishing it was bigger and also that they offered a double ticket where you could visit the Johnny Cash museum and Pasty Cline under one ticket instead of them being separate as I felt we got through this a lot quicker than expectedVisited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 24, 2025
- steve k1 contributionThe Museum was amazing. so much information, we learned so much more about Johnny Cash, his recording, personal life, movies he was in, over all life. It was a wonderful experience, and I will spread the word to all my friends that this is a must see. Upon exiting we were asked by a gentleman named Randall Bart. He asked a large group of people if they had any questions {perhaps a mistake} for him. It was game on we started asking questions he answered each and every one of them. Our conversation and questions continued out in the entrance area. We talked for a minimum of 20 minutes. Our family wants to thank Randall Bart for taking so much time with us and making us feel like wanted customers. I have been in business for myself for over 4 decades. Randall is a huge asset to your museum. Thank You Again. - Matt MGainesville, Virginia58 contributionsI am a big Cash fan, so this is a bit biased. I loved it! I thought I knew a lot about Johnny Cash, but this museum built on the things I knew and exposed me to so much interesting history and things I didn't know. The biggest surprise is that my wife really enjoyed it. She is not a fan and knew nothing going in. Turned out to be one of the top attractions we visited for her. I would suggest that you give yourself plenty of time to soak it in and to study the artifacts they have on display. We were on a schedule, and that took away from it some. I would have liked to spent a little longer. If you're a fan, it's a no-brainer. If you're just curious, I would definitely recommend this. You will appreciate all the interesting stuff.Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, Matt! We are so glad you and your wife enjoyed your visit.Written June 3, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 2, 2024
