- ccarlson2022Niles, Michigan300 contributionsA bit run downStopped with my 17 year old daughter around 10am on New Year’s Eve. We parked in the corner of Wilcox and Hollywood. Lots of homeless and trash in the area. Maybe a different part is much better. We hoped out took a few photos and went into a gift shop close to Wilcox and headed out. Didn’t feel safe at all for being daylight. No other tourists just homeless wandering.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 21, 2024
- Michele CPorto Alegre, RS29 contributionsNothing elseIt's simply a street, very long, with stars on the ground. You walk and see if you find someone you know. No big deal, much of the street is actually quite ugly and dirty. Closer to the Dolby Theater is where it gets cooler and busier. It's a "must go" because saying you went to LA and not going is bad, but it's something to see and say "I went"Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 28, 2024
- Gyorgy BDebrecen, Hungary10 contributionsIt wasn't as good as I expected but it was good to visit to satisfy the childhood dream of mineIt was a dream come true to visit this place, but because of the negligence from the maintenance community, it's not in good shape. Beware of the cosplayers who may charge you money for taking a photo with them. The area could use a bit of cleaning up as some of the stars were covered in dirt. The area also has stalls which cover most of the stars. Daytime can get crowded because of other tourists visiting this place.Visited May 2023Traveled with friendsWritten March 12, 2024
- Jason H3 contributionsDisappointed!I hate to post this review but it just didn't feel safe down there. Lots of aggressive homeless folks and we even saw a small group smoking something on the side of the road that was clearly not cigarettes. We did our best to just pay attention to the stars but honestly it just didn't feel safe.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 31, 2024
- one team BCFC xWeston super Mare, United Kingdom64 contributionsAverageI read an article on LA and in summary the guy wrote and I quote “ the only thing your find out about LA is that when you come away, your realise just how glad you are, that you don’t live there’ and I kinda have to agree. It’s so made up of those that have and those that have not” The walk of fame is really good fun and if you do walk it, it will take you about 3-4 hours as you keep stopping and pointing out stars that you recognise and stop to take pictures. Like everywhere else in an American tourist trap you will In counter countless people trying to sell you stuff. A stiff “ no thank-you” usually works but some still do persists 😞 My advice is to stay in the tourist areas don’t venture any further as you will see and experience a different side of LA your probably not goons like. Without sounding disrespectful we were sat in Macdonalds the place was filled with homeless people many with severe mental health problems. One guy was sat with his hands down his pants it look like he was…well you know what I mean. Most people moved away from him and so did we, only to be looking out the window at some bare footed guy going through the trash can Next to the Hollywood stars on the street. We took the hop on hop of bus which was pretty average and decided to get off a couple of stops before the end, big mistake once again found ourselves in what I would describe as “bandit country”. Not that enjoyable overall but stay on the right paths!Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 6, 2024
- 303racoon50Coventry, United Kingdom106 contributionsSad to see it's so dirtyI m usually pretty upbeat but this was quite disappointing. The streets are not cleaned and some of the stars are pretty dirty. Relying on the rain isn't working. The Walk of Fame becomes less and less appealing the further you go up Hollywood Boulevard and although we wanted to see Capitol Records and the Beatles Stars we weren't sure how safe the area actually was. Lots of homeless and mentally ill people wandering about. However we were lucky enough to see a Star being unveiled for Lang Lang and so that was very special. I guess that's a fairly rare event however. The Chinese Theatre with the signatures and hand/footprints is worth taking time to explore.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 17, 2024
- CharlotteKatoomba, Australia32 contributionsEye-openingDefinitely nothing like I expected, the area overall is dirty and there are many homeless people about. However, the main thing to be aware of is the street scammers, particularly the guys who pretend to be rappers, hand out fake CD’s and then take photos with you and force you to make a ‘donation’ to support their fake music. We ended up being fooled, coming from the other side of the world, and paid them $30. Another concerning part of our trip was when we were catching the bus into Hollywood and a homeless man ran onto the road and stood in front of the bus even though the light had turned green. 911 had to be called. These are the things that will happen, but I took it as an eye-opening experience to see the lives of these people and get a taste of a lifestyle different to mine. I don’t personally think it’s a bad experience, it might take a bit to get used to it but overall I’m glad I got to see it and get a taste of the real LA. However, if you are on a short time-span or are looking for a glamorous tourist attraction then this is not the place for you. Wouldn’t go back again but it was interesting to spend a couple of days here.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 18, 2024
- 3000caloriesBuffalo, New York1,724 contributionsJust come for a quick photo and leaveWas staying around the corner so figured I’d check it out. This was a Sunday afternoon and it was crowded, mostly because the wide sidewalk is taken up by street vendors. Most of the street vendors are selling Mexican snack food. But it was a windy day and some of their umbrellas would fall and I was worried someone would get hurt. There was also a CD selling guy and a 3 card monte scam artist (do people really still fall for that?). There are also people hawking “Hollywood tours” and people in costumes who will take a photo of you for a few. Overall it is not pleasant here but you can see the stars in the sidewalk and check that off your list.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 6, 2024
- ValeCagliari, Italy4,398 contributionspure magicGoing down this street is something truly exciting, the street is very long, it is full of stars dedicated to important celebrities, the most beautiful piece is certainly the one near the splendid Chinese Theatre, where right in front you can admire the footprints of actors and celebrities most famous in the world. Also not to be missed is the Dolby Theater where the Oscars are still awarded today. Unfortunately, part of the street was very dirty, and gave off a bad smell of urine, due to the many homeless people in the area, the municipality should solve this problem.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 8, 2024
- Indah EdlightzOntario, Canada4,288 contributionsIt's Entirely NostalgicI think the Hollywood Walk of Fame is pretty cool. Its entirely nostalgic. There isn't anything special in walking this area and reading names of stars in concrete.. especially that this area is not the nicest right now, but there is something special is walking the walk of fame and remembering the starts that were once great and have now been forgotten by this generation and the current culture. Hollywood and stardom used to mean something.. now you can be a "celebrity" by swallowing tide pods on tik-tok. This is a busy area and many locals trying to scam tourists.. but its still something to check out once in a lifetime.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 19, 2024
