Easy hike pays off with magnificent views
Great hiking area for any fitness level. There are several interlocking trails that very in length. We hike the outer loop of all the trails which was about 5.5-miles. We hiked Bunkhouse to Kiva to Eagles Nest to Coyote Ridge to Apache Fire to Javalina to East Gate and back to Bunkhouse. As you can imagine the trail segments are short and you can access the trails for shorter hikes. The only strenuous part of the loop was going up the back side of Eagles Nest but there are plenty of switchbacks with 300-ft of elevation gain. Great vistas of Cathedral Rock, Three Sisters, and many more rock formations. We saw several mule deer on the hike, stopped and ate lunch enjoying the views of the mountain range, and met only a handful of other hikers on the trail. Gates open at 0800.

    The Rangers are so kind!
Me and my friend walked three short trails and saw so much beauty from the rock formations to the river we walked along. The rangers helped identify a lizard I took a photo of and thought me how to recognize it. I appreciated that fully🫶🏼 we also loved all the information that was posted on the trails!

    Amazing views and relaxing walks
All state parks have wonderful views and offer good trials to enjoy with family and your dog if you have one. I did not pay extra fir any of the visits I did to the park. My only watchout is that it gets busy early so it help to stsrt early.

Hiking at Red Rock State Park
We arrived at 10 AM. We listeded to the 2 movies about the history. Then we walked the train next to the Oak Creek, the easy trail. We had hiked the harder trails years ago. We toured the 2 rooms with explanations of the area. We ended with a picnic lunch on the outdoor picnic tables.

Good start to the Loop Road
We had a nice visit and tour with guide Charlotte today. Learned lots about the native plants and the park geological history. The views are terrific, especially if you do the short climb to the House of Apache Fires.

    Mule Deers
Our Nature guide was exceptional. Jan/Jane was so knowledgeable and willing to share all her knowledge (geology, volancic activity, reasont history, botanical plants, and indigeneous history) and gladly answered all the group's questions. The walk/hike was about 2 hrs; bring plenty of water....highly recommend it..We saw two mule deers!

    Lots of Fun
Even with it being on the warm side there are so many trails to visit- different lengths. Also a nice visitors center with interactive displays and a small gift shop. Plenty of room to park in different areas of the park. Some great picnic sites and very friendly staff. If you go try going in one way off the main highway then leaving a different direction. It gives you so many different views and is a nice ride into Sedona.

    So much to do
The fee to get in is minimal. Plenty of parking and so many trails to choose from. The trail by the river is easy and the river sounds so relaxing. If you want to cross the bridge you can venture up on the mountain and have some amazing panoramic views from the top. Be mindful of wildlife, we saw a snake (this is their home, we are just visiting). Hiking shoes recommend it’s dusty. If you don’t want to hike there are plenty of benches and a nice visitor center. We’ve been here a few times in the past and it seems a popular spot for weddings. I can imagine the beautiful scenery makes for awesome pictures and memories!

Wonderful state park for safe varied hikes.
We visited on a warm Autumn day. The entry fee is minimal and there is plenty of parking. Really nicely presented visitors centre with friendly informative staff. The walks are all well marked and set out in such a way you can do a very short loop or venture further. There is the chance of seeing variety of animals, we spotted a hawk, lots of lizards but sadly no javelinas. But they are there somewhere! We would strongly recommend this lovely park which gives a great view of Cathedral Rock.

This 1.8-mile hike will lead you to Sedona’s iconic sandstone arch, where you’ll get breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and rock formations. Get there early to beat the crowd or expect to wait for up to a couple of hours for a photo op. Walk about a mile along the Dry Creek dirt road to reach the trailhead, but if you can’t find a spot at the Dry Creek Trailhead parking lot, park along the highway instead. Otherwise, Sedona offers a free shuttle service from downtown to two of the five trailheads, Mescal and Dry Creek Vista. – Tripadvisor

Take one of America’s most scenic drives—the 30-mile route from Flagstaff to Sedona—to Oak Creek Canyon. You can get a detailed map from the ranger station before you set off. Watch as towering red cliffs give way to lush forested canyons along the drive. There’s so much to do once you’re there: cool off at the swimming holes, fish for your own meal, hike the popular West Fork trail, ride a jeep or ATV, or hop on a hot air balloon ride. Pick up some Native American crafts at Oak Creek Vista.

  • Slide Rock State Park Hotels
This state park in Oak Creek Canyon is one of Arizona’s most visited tourist attractions. Apart from the abundant plant and wildlife, Slide Rock State Park is also home to a 43-acre working apple farm, one of the few homesteads preserved in the canyon. Tackle the hiking trails to enjoy great views of sandstone bluffs, explore rustic cabins from the 20th century, and cool off by swooshing down the 80-foot-long natural water slide that the park is named after. If you're planning for a swim, note that temperatures in Oak Creek can drop to near-freezing in winter and spring. – Tripadvisor
