    Something I haven’t done before
You can walk up the Fansipan by trekking with locals. However, this cable car system operated by Sun world allows you to travel easier with young kids or elderly. The weather was nice on the way up and down, so, we luckily saw amazing landscapes. There are small shops selling food and drinks although they aren’t very tasty.

    Simply stunning
We headed up in a cloud and thought we wouldn’t see anything but the peak was above the clouds and eventually the sun showed itself and we saw the top in all its glory. Amazing combination of views structures and the lovely Buddha. We spent well over two hours walking around. Expect a lot of stairs. And I mean a lot… but we’ll worth getting to the peak. There’s also a funicular that cuts a lot of the climbing if you prefer.

    Village trek with Minh
Took a half day village trek with tour guide Minh +84 868 139 467. He made us comfortable by conversing fluently in English and he capped the tour by treating us to a feast of a lunch at his home. Definitely recommend.

    Tough but rewarding hike
I climbed Mount Fansipan in July ‘23, along with my boyfriend (who is a big fan of hiking). Fansipan was one of the first mountains I’ve ever hiked up, after reading lots of reviews we chose Minh (WhatsApp +84 868 139 467) as our guide. Unfortunately Minh was unavailable so his cousin, Chú was our guide. Chú was an excellent guide, he had a strong pace but would make sure to wait for us, and provided a very tasty lunch. it was certainly a hard climb up and I would say you need a good level of fitness to complete it. Getting to the top of Fansipan was a fantastic feeling, at the top Chú even bought us certificates and medals. The high of reaching the top lasted for an hour or so for our climb down. We decided we didn’t want to pay full price for the cable car, although having completed the hike both ways I would highly recommend taking the cable car down for beginners! The way down was going well, until it didn’t, I hit a complete wall and my knees felt like they were breaking. Chú was encouraging and understood how I felt, allowed me as many breaks as I needed. Embarrassment and determination to get off the mountain spurred me on. We took 5 hours up and about 6/7 hours down. It was very relieving to get down, an experience I’ll never forget and would encourage others to try! Minh and Chu were very attentive and even checked in with me the next day.

    Great Day Trip!
Minh took us through a 10-11km day trek through the villages of Sapa! It was a great way to see how the locals lived and Minh was an amazing guide! He can be reached at ‪+84 868 139 467‬ on WhatsApp.

    Fanispan Peak
We went up to the Fansipan Peak via the cable car.. It was an absolutely fantastic experience, highly recommend. The views are amazing . As you are so high up, the air is really thin, so be kind to yourself when walking around and you will need a proper coat like a puffer jacket as its cold.

    Fansipan: Beyond Amazing
Probably the best experience I’ve had. Sea of clouds, rolling mist, same altitude as plane seatbelt signs come off, you are flying on solid ground. Funicular up and steps down were fine, air is thinner though, take a jacket, but beyond breathtaking.

    Beautiful mountain peak
The mountain peak is beautiful and the gondola ride and funicular train are engineering marvels. There are 1000’s of steps to visit the Buddha, Bodhisattva, and various temples and pagodas. The grounds are immaculate with flowers and beautiful plants everywhere. My visit was in October and I can imagine the beauty during Spring or before the rice harvest. It was definitely worth the time and effort to make a visit.

    Guided Hike
Amazing Hike with Minh, a really cool local guide with decent English. Took us around 7 hours to go up and down again. Don't take this time for granted though. We were on really good pace and didn't stop much. If you want to contact him, just send him a message via WhatsApp +84868139467

    Must see
After pondering what to do on our final day in Sapa we decided to take a cable car to the top of Fansipan mountain. Was a foggy day but sights were still amazing! Probably the most expensive thing we have done so far in Vietnam but definitely worth it for the photographs!
