- Daniela MSantiago, Chile7 contributionsCloudy Sugar LoafI went with my teenage daughters. The day was very cloudy but I decided to go anyway but I was right because it didn't clear all week. We took an Uber that left us where it boarded for the cable car. My daughters had a discount for being under 21, be careful that you have to show identity (even if it is a photo) There weren't many people as it was cloudy. You get on a cable car that has capacity for 65 people even though there were 4 of us. Beautiful journey, it was visible even with the bad weather. You stop and there is a station with shops, food, all very nice. Then you board the next cable car that takes you to the top. At the top we saw absolutely nothing due to the weather and there are fewer things up there. It was worth it a thousand times to have gone regardless of the weather. Very nice, well organized etc.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 27, 2024
- Gastón BarthelemyBuenos Aires, Argentina102 contributionsThe best of Rio de JaneiroMy wife and daughter and I visited Sugar Loaf on our trip to RJ and it was, by far, our favorite thing in the city. Some things to keep in mind: 1. The best time to visit is the afternoon, to see the sunset. We were afraid of meeting a crowd of people, but to our surprise it was quite quiet (we went on a Tuesday, but in high season). 2. If it's cloudy, visiting probably won't be worth it. The strong point of Sugarloaf is the views, and when there is a lot of cloud cover, the truth is that you can't see anything. 3. It is preferable to buy the ticket online on the bondinho website, to avoid waiting in line to buy tickets when you arrive. And don't make the same mistake as me - go up with the mate and something to snack on because it's a good place to stay for a while at Morro da Urca (the 1st stop on the cable car) appreciating the view with some green ones.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 2, 2024
- Baskal BusraTürkiye64 contributionsPretty niceYou can take tickets by cash or by card. It is 185 brasialian real per person ( february 2024) That gives you an access for 5 times. There is a cable car. So you use 1 ticket to go inside, 1 ticket to go 1 cable car up. The area is good and lots of restaurants and foods and gift shops. You can take your time as long as you wish. There was even a dj when we went there. And the other ticket to go one more upper side. This area is a lot smaller. But The scenary is beautiful up there. So other two tickets to go 2 cable car back. It is a must to visit place if you are in Rio. But basically, if you see the whole city from Crist statue side, I do not know if you wish to see the city from the other side again. All up to you people.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 11, 2024
- hbhakhRoanoke, Virginia2,353 contributionsAmazing viewsWe went to Sugarloaf on a tour from our cruise ship. Our group had the express tickets so we didn't have to wait in long lines...accessing the cable cars was fairly easy. The general lines weren't long when we arrived (about 9:30 am) but they had grown by the time we left. The cable car rides (2 up and 2 down) were fairly quick and smooth. The views are great. The views from the top of Sugarloaf are amazing in all directions. We were fortunate to have a clear day (with a nice breeze). There are some shops (over priced) and food/beverage outlets at the top. We recommend this attraction.......the express tickets are highly recommended.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 16, 2024
- Gisela Noemi CResistencia, Argentina390 contributionsBeautifulIt was my third time in Rio de Janeiro. On other occasions I did not go to the Sugar Pao because the entrance is expensive compared to other tourist spots, but it is really worth paying for. The infrastructure is very good. The views are unique. I went on a Tuesday with few people compared to a weekend. Take the opportunity to take photos and there are also some places that have a lot of vegetation to explore. People of any age can do it, all very well organized.¡Hola Gisela! Nos alegra mucho saber que su visita fue como esperaba. Siempre estamos pensando en la mejor manera de atenderlos. Gracias por la evaluación. Vuelve a menudo, estaremos con los brazos abiertos.Written March 11, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 3, 2024
- Kim WOrlando, Florida108 contributionsFabulous View!!!!!Breathtaking. We got fast pass tickets at the Sugarloaf Mountain and it was wonderful. We waited in a very short line then went through a lounge where we where there was no one and we went to the private clean bathroom and we were given a complimentary water then taken to the front for the next cable car. The cable car was quick but note there are no chairs but you stand and look at the beautiful view. There is a halfway point with food, drink, souvenir stores and great views. Then you can go up to the top on another quick cable car ride where there are more food, drink and stores and amazing views. Our day was clear so it was wonderful. I would change your day before doing it on a hazy foggy day.Hi Kim, how are you? Thank you for sharing your experience at Bondinho Park, and we're delighted that your visit was delightful! - Eaton_OutGreenville, South Carolina651 contributionsGreat Rio experienceSugarloaf Mountain is directly in front of the Christ the Redeemer statue. It is apparently named after the shape of sugar imported by Portuguese in conical shaped cones. Access to the mountain is in two steps (mountain A to Mountain B) on extremely new cable cars that hold 65 passengers each. There are food venues, souvenir shops, and toilets on both mountains. This is a once in a lifetime experience. GO! This venue is not as crowded as Christ the Redeemer.Hi Eaton, how are you? We're very happy to hear about your trip and that you enjoyed our shopping areas, as well as the beautiful view of Rio de Janeiro. We want to thank you for your feedback and review, and we hope to see you again soon! - Vinícius SSao Joao Da Boa Vista, SP1,202 contributionsUnmissableThe best attraction in Rio, a lot is said about Christ... but all the spotlight should go to the cable car! Charming from start to finish! Unique and enchanting experience in every detail! The only weak point: the queue and disorganization! The official website crashes a lot, doesn't read the password and unfortunately we had to face the in-person queue to buy the ticket….Olá Vinicius! - Irene Eng2,651 contributionsA must goThis is a must go: high atop the Sugarloaf (Pão de Açúcar), which is the small hill on the western side of the ocean/bay mouth. The mouth is nearly a mile wide mouth, the Atlantic Ocean to the south and the Guanabara Bay to the north. To the west, under the Cristo Redentor / Christ the Redeemer’s feet, is the city of Rio. SDU airport, light colored buildings, shanty towns on the dark green hills, white beaches, little islands – the Bay is dotted by more than 130 islands. All are surrounded by gleaming waters, making it picturesquely enchanting. The cable car has two stops: the first one is at Morro da Urca (elevation 722′ or 220m), and the second/last stop is at the summit, Sugarloaf mountain (not sure mountain is fitting here), with 1,299′ (396m) elevation. The cable car operation opened in 1912. The four gondolas we were in, have no a/c. The cafes at both stops have great views as well. We left our hotel at 8:30, and again, seeing dressed up (or early dressed) crowds – the carnival is raging on. Many roads were closed. Heavy traffic jam made the drive an hour long ordeal. We finally arrived at Praça General Tibúrcio / General Tibúrcio Square, where the entrance to the cablecar is at. There wasn’t any lines, both to the gondola and ticket window. But ticket pick up was a long affair, when they demanded our ID. For Pete’s sake, why selling online but not issuing digital ticket? Secondly, on the ticket site there wasn’t any warning that ID is needed for ticket pick up. Once the physical tickets in hand, we got up quickly.Hello! It is with great joy that we receive your kind words. Knowing that we can contribute to creating happy moments is what drives us every day. We thank you for being part of the beauty of our Park with your presence and appreciation. We are here for you whenever you need us. Come visit us again whenever you want to relive those special moments. - NORMA GCastelar, Argentina4,712 contributionsOne RIO icon, you have to go.Something you can't miss if you go to RIO. First you go up with the cable car to Morro de Urca, and the second section to Pan de Azúcar. They are short stretches. From the top you have spectacular views. We did it with the RIO COMPLETO excursion.Hola, ¡Nos alegra mucho saber que disfrutó de la belleza del paisaje y tuvo una grata experiencia durante su visita a nuestro parque! ¡Vuelva siempre!Written April 22, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 21, 2024
