Stavropoleos Monastery is located in Old Town, Bucharest. It is a small Orthodox monastery that is rich in decor. Once experiencing the beauty of this church, one can walk just a few steps to the monastery's courtyard which has fine artwork and is very traditional in style. If one is walking in the Old Town one will have the opportunity to visit this monastery and still spend time experiencing Bucharest's Old Town ambiance while also having he opportunity to visit the many restaurants that are in this exciting part of Bucharest. Definitely recommended.

Alright so I’m not religious but I really appreciate the creativity of the stone masons and artisans of the time. The detail in the church is outstanding and in such well kept original condition. The iconography was very well done . We went back 3 times in total it was that captivating. The paintings are very well detailed and well kept.

The small 300-year-old monastery is a gem; the nuns have painstakingly but skillfully restored it, reacquiring works of art, old books and cult objects. All of the nuns were previously academics, some of them doctorates, and continue to carry out historical, artistic and literary projects alongside theological and monastic development. Old monastic chants are digitally recorded, and books, albums and calendars are published. Despite the urban hustle and bustle and noise, you can find an oasis of peace and reflection here. And at the same time you learn how to behave and dress appropriately in a church, and how to find silence. It feels really good.

An oasis of calm and peacefulness in Old Town. Stavropoleos Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery and though it's small, it's architecture, murals and stonework is a testament to Byzantine tradition. The courtyard is beautiful and peaceful and must be the place to be during the spring/summer. The interior is decorative, calm, and peaceful, a refuge if you want to escape from the crowds and busy streets of Bucharest.

The Stavropoleos monastery is a little gem nestled into the old town of Bucharest of which you are almost guaranteed to pass on a stroll. One of Bucharests oldest, it is amazing just how peaceful and quiet it is given its location. We visted late in the afternoon and there was no other visitors at the time so it felt a lot more personal which was nice. Its not a large place by any means but instead a small stop on a busy day. The architecture of the monastery is beautiful and something to really take a moment to be admired.

One of the attractions you should not miss is the Monastery of Stavropoleos. It was built in 1724 with the rare murals of the 18th century. Its architecture is a mix of influences with Romanian, Oriental, Byzantine and later Italian elements of the Renaissance.

This was such a pleasant place to stop in for 10-15 minutes. There’s no cost, no need to schedule your visit, and, if you’re in Bucharest, you’ll probably end up walking by it at some point anyway. It was beautiful and incredibly peaceful. As an added bonus, I was even able to purchase a candle to light for only 1.5 lei (roughly 30 cents Euro/USD).

Really nice Monastery to visit in the heart of Bucharest, though very small to see and walk around, it has an amazing charm to it. You can see why it's number 1 thing to do and see, would highly recommend putting this on your to do list. Courtyard area is amazing. Not to ne missed.

Beautiful church. I met her on a beautiful tour made by a girl from Romania who took us to this church and told us about the particularities of her religion. Very interesting and the church is beautiful, tiny and located in the center of the old part.

We’d walked past here a few times when it was closed. When we did find it open, it was crowded but we managed to squeeze in. Sat quietly inside, whilst all around took selfies and filmed themselves! Guess where they were from .... There was a lovely garden square outside, very peaceful.
