- betteskidBoston, Massachusetts1,329 contributionsThe extra ticket for this tomb is worthwhileThis tomb is an added ticket when you visit the Valley of the Kings but it is worth it. Given the mystery surrounding it and its late discovery, the excitement of actually seeing it was special for us. We loved the paintings in the burial chamber and the history of the discovery was also interesting.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten February 26, 2024
- Maria Solange OFarroupilha, RS30,923 contributionsTutankhamun's Tomb!Tutankhamun's tomb is located in the Valley of the Kings and in addition to the entrance fee of 600 LE (20 dollars) to enter the valley, you have to pay 500 LE (17 dollars) to enter Tut's tomb. It is well preserved and Tutankhamun is in his tomb. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 11, 2024
- maxieOgunquit, Maine4 contributionsAncient Egyptian Pharaonic civilizationPharaonic civilization has many steps leading to the tomb. Too many people and too hot. The king has returned to his tomb and his mummified body lies for all to see. Beautiful and colorful paintings decorate the walls. The guard took my camera to take some selfies (for a fee of course). I'm happy to offer a tip for these great photos. Really great place to visit. One of our bucket list experiences. Definitely a must do for both of us.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 31, 2024
- Susan CMelbourne, Australia1,538 contributionsSmall and easy to seeIn the Valley of the Kings you can visit KV 62 Tutankhamun if you pay extra. Other extra-pay tombs are KV17 Seti I (more expensive) and KV9 Tombs of Rameses V & VI (cheaper). This is the best tomb to pay for if short of time. It is very, very small (30 metres in length) and, of course, all of the treasures, except Tutankhamun's mummy, are in the Egyptian Museum. There is still one room in the tomb that can't be seen (you can see a replica at Howard Carter's house including that extra room). I liked the full length pictures on the walls which actually felt more accessible to me that the tiny detailed drawings I saw in many tombs and they are very well preserved. Good extra explanatory information out front.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 8, 2024
- japanese doremiChuo, Japan16,129 contributionsThe tomb of King Tutankhamun has beautifully preserved murals. The Tomb of King Tutankhamun has beautifully preserved murals. The famous pharaoh of the 18th dynasty of ancient Egypt, Tutankhamun, has very colorful murals remaining, and even a mummy is on display. I personally found this to be the most impressive of the many tombs in the Valley of the Kings. You will need a separate ticket from the entrance, but it's definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend it.Visited February 2024Traveled soloWritten April 8, 2024
- Robert D5,278 contributionsWorth the extra ticketWhen you visit the Valley of the Kings, you will be impressed by the many tombs here. Your regular admission ticket allows you to visit three tombs, but there a few that require an extra ticket. The most famous of these is of course King Tut. Howard Carter discovered his tomb here in 1922. Although the treasures from the tomb have been removed, you can go inside and see King Tutankhamun's stone sarcophagus and his mummy. Since the tomb itself is small and many people want to see it, you will have to wait a while to get in. They only let a limited number inside at any one time. It is definitely worth the wait and the cost of the extra ticket.Visited March 2024Traveled soloWritten May 1, 2024
- aniquek2017Cape Town, South Africa68 contributionsWorth the extra entry feeWhile the tomb of Tutankhamen doesn’t contain any of the original treasure, it’s an interesting one because of how it differs from the other, more spectacular tombs in The Valley of the Kings. There are no carvings, just paintings on the walls because they had to finish it in a hurry, and he actually wasn’t that important compared to the other pharaohs. You go down a steep, unadorned staircase which makes it feel like an adventure. Definitely follow this up with a trip to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see his burial mask. Check though - they are currently in the process of moving his treasures to the yet-unfinished Grand Egyptian Museum, so I don’t know if it will still be there when you want to visit.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 22, 2024
- Rick Schouten62 contributionsIt's impressive.Wonderful experience, which you have to pay a little more for. During the visit to the Valley of the Kings, the visits to 3 tombs are included. A surcharge must be paid for the tomb of Tutankhamun. Personally, I find it worthwhile, although the tombs are small or much less decorated than other tombs in the Valley.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 25, 2024
- kohechinToyama, Japan3,915 contributionsMust-Visit SitesYou can also see the amazing murals and mummies. Photography was also OK without flash. Perhaps because it was a tour, the group was chartered and we shot with a digital camera without any special tickets. It was the most moving tomb in the Valley of the Kings. It is one of the must-visit sites.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 15, 2024
- MonaIsmaeilEdmonton, Canada133 contributionsSee King Tut's MummyYou will pay extra to see this site when visiting the Valley of the Kings. What is unique is that here you can see the mummy of King Tut. His body is very well preserved and you can see the details like how toes, hair, and teeth. Definitely worth the little bit extra.Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten December 21, 2024
