The Jordanian Museum is located in the heart of the city, along a main road, accessible by car or bus. Free parking is available on site. Admission costs 5 JD per person for foreign visitors. The welcome is smiling and friendly, full of respect. The museum is composed of two levels. On the ground floor there is a historical, archaeological, cultural part, on the whole history of Jordan. Some treasures are highlighted in a separate part. Don’t miss the section devoted to Dead Sea scrolls. Everything is well highlighted in this modern museum. Upstairs, a very playful and interesting part concerning the inventions of the Arab world that one would not suspect to be at the origin of so many scientific advances. A game that will delight the youngest because everything is tactile and we can quickly take to the game. Allow 2 hours visit at least if you want to see everything. We were able to visit the museum quietly because there were hardly any tourists

The Jordan museum tells the story of Jordan throughout the ages. It took me a full two hours to see all of the exhibits in this modern museum, opened in 2006. Some of the exhibits date back thousands of years, such as the prehistoric stone tools. There is a two-headed statue that is over 9500 years old and is one of the oldest human statues in the world. At one exhibit, you could see your name in Jordan's different alphabets. In another rooms, there is an exhibit of the Dead Sea scrolls. On the upper floor was an exhibit I has seen in London in 2010. The "1001 Inventions: Discovering Our Past . . Inspiring Our Future" exhibit featured Arab discoveries and scientific advancements during the so-called "Dark Ages".

Start your trip to Amman with a visit to this museum where you will learn the history and better understand the culture. It was so helpful to make this the first stop on our 5 day trip to Jordan. The country and its people are progressive and appreciative of their culture in all aspects. A very manageable museum!

Interesting museum, lots of instructive info. Of course Dead Sea Scrolls was the highlight. I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of Dead Sea Scrolls, I thought no pictures with flash. Very unclearly indicated. The security guards were noisily talking to each other or on the phone. I'm not used to being in a museum. I like silence when I have to read a lot from the walls.

This museum, is amazing. One of the best history museums I've seen in my life. And I'm Italian, I've seen a lot of rocks in buildings. This is a very well thought of series of exhibits with great explanations, there is plenty to get even the least interested visitor engaged on the ground floor, at the main exhibition. The second floor blew my mind. It's planned with kids in mind, it shows the inventions of the Arabic world and showcases both female and male inventors. It's very interactive, great fun also as an adult. 10/10 would go again!

Very nice museum exploring the history of Jordan. Lots of interesting pieces to see with plenty of information (in English), and a dedicated Dead Sea Scrolls room. A definite 'must visit' when in Amman.

Beautiful museum that traces the history of Jordan. Small section on the Dead Sea Scrolls. Exciting temporary exhibition on the inventions and scientists of the Arab world. Allow 2 good hours for the tour.

A tour from the old period to new Jordan. A visit to The Jordan Museum was so fruitful. Exploring the map, population, energy power, how to prepare Mansaf, old stones from thousands of years, traditional dresses, weapons, utensils, old languages and many others. Visit 1001 Inventions Exhibition, and meet old Muslim and Arab scientists, fly with Ibn Fernas, indulge in some interesting history games, take a photo with old dress with Al Jahez. Such a great visit. Entry ticket is very reasonable.
