    Stunning
Walking around the wonderful Fisherman's Bastion I passed Matthias Church ,viewed it many times on many great holidays to this amazing city and it still impresses me. Matthias Church ( The Church Of The Assumption Of The Buda Castle ) is the beautiful Roman Catholic Church that sits on Trinity Square. Originally constructed in 1015 in a style of architecture known as Romanesque but what we see today is more in line with Gothic style architecture from the 14th century but in the late 19th century the church underwent an extensive restoration . This church has seen two kings crowned here so it has sometimes been refereed to as Coronation Church Of Buda ,it's a very popular tourist destination ,every aspect of the church is outstanding as is the area that it's located ,I love visiting the church and Fisherman's Bastion ,if you're planning a holiday to Budapest it's most definitely well worth checking out especially if you're Buda side of the River Danube.

    Beautiful Church
This church by FIsherman’s Bastion is worth a quick stop if you have time while visiting Fisherman’s Bastion. The interior of the church is nowhere as imposing as other large cathedrals but has a more intimate setting. Tickets to enter can be purchased opposite the church’s south side adjacent to where tickets for Fisherman’s Bastion are sold. There was also a very small gift shop inside.

    Imposing building!!
Matthias Church is unlike many of the typical churches dating back to the Middle Ages. Be prepared to be surprised for its off the beaten track inner beauty. The church was used as a coronation church by Hungarian kings for centuries, also a mosque for over 150 years by the Ottoman Turks, once owned by Franciscans, Jesuits, now a thriving Catholic church with holy masses, concerts, plenty of weddings, thousands of tourists. The graceful architecture and stunningly rich, all embracing wall paintings of the majestic building will leave you speechless. While the outside of Matthias Church offers the historical beauty of traditional Gothic churches with delicate turrets, the coloured tile roofs already give away that this church is not following the usual recipe: entering inside the church you will experience one of the most welcoming combinations of warm lights, shadows and colours with orange, brown, golden hewed frescos reaching from floor to ceiling, beautiful stain glass windows, far reaching arches, century old wooden pews, medieval remnants!

    Beautiful Outside, a Church Inside
From the outside it's a truly stunning piece of architecture but on the inside its a church. Kind of like Dr Who's tardis but in reverse. Then again what was I expecting? The stained glass windows are very beautiful, daughter took lots of pictures of those claiming she wants them in her future house. So she's either going to become very wealthy or a nun. Lots of religious artifacts, pomp and ceremony stuff and yeah, pretty on the inside. Around £12 to go in (for 2)so not cheap but if you're in Budapest and stood outside, you might as well go in for a look.

    A Classic for a reason
This is the most beautiful church I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot of churches. The painting is vibrant and unique, and the stained glass complement it well. It stands above other historical churches and should be on every Budapest visitor’s list

Extremely beautiful place of worship with a magnificent interior
It was an architectural marvel with intricate designs used for its decorations of exterior parts with an eye-catching mosaic pattern with contrasting colours created with glazed tiles on roof. Entrance arch and tower were very decorative with filigree like artwork done on them. Interior was gorgeous with many complex designs. Very admirable and a treat to the eye. Shades of soothing colours have been skilfully blended to make the motifs to standout. It appears to be a creation of dedicated master craftsmen. There was so much to see and admire in Matthias Church, Budapest.

    Amazing views near Matthias Church
Beautiful church inside and out with amazing views just out the door. You can pay to go up a level or if you're patient there's plenty of room on the main level, or the stairs to the left, to get the whole panoramic view of Budapest. I gave 4 stars and not 5 because this area is highly congested and seems to be a tourist mecca. All the prices are jacked up and it is packed. I mean, I know it has amazing views, but show up early or late

    Far Nicer than the Cathedral
Loved this church. The outside looks great with the tiled roof but the interior is also very grand, with lovely paintings and great stained glass windows including one of the lamb of God, as well as oldest stone carving in Budapest. You can see why it was chosen as place to annoint kings.

Music making in a glorious setting
Beautiful Church in a glorious setting. Warmer feel than St Stephen’s Basilica in the centre of Pest. Last Tuesday we were fortunate to catch a wonderful free choral concert by a UK choir. Recommended.
