Hotels near Vigeland Park

The Vigeland Park is the world's largest sculpture park made by a single artist, and is one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions. The park is open to visitors all year round. The unique sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland's lifework with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. Vigeland was also in charge of the design and architectural layout of the park. The Vigeland Park was mainly completed between 1939 and 1949. Most of the sculptures are placed in five units along an 850 meter long axis: The Main gate, the Bridge with the Children's playground, the Fountain, the Monolith plateau and the Wheel of Life.

The amazing work of Gustav Vigeland
Vigeland Park is a lovely experience, very close to the heart of Oslo. Set in a beautiful residential area of Norway's capital, the park displays the amazing work of Gustav Vigeland. The perfect place for a walk and admiring the sculptures at the same time.

    A Must-Visit Artistic Treasure
Vigeland Park in Oslo was a delightful experience, offering an extensive and spacious area filled with art that easily rivals that of Munch. The statues by Vigeland were a definitive treat to see up close, and the park's design makes viewing a joy, especially with many pieces located near the bridge. Standouts like The Big Monument, Angry Boy, and Angry Baby left a lasting impression. While the park is a feast for the eyes, it falls short in terms of amenities. The lack of general facilities (only a bathroom at the entrance) and limited food or drink options were slight drawbacks to the otherwise fantastic experience. However, these minor inconveniences shouldn't deter visitors. Vigeland Park is a unique and rich artistic space that's strongly recommended for art enthusiasts and anyone looking to explore Oslo's cultural treasures. A must-visit destination!

    Great statues
A really interesting park. Obviously filled with the sculptures of Gustav Vigeland. Lots of statues and all very interesting. Besides the statues and the scenery not much there. Bathroom is a pay bathroom and not much to do besides looking at the statues.

    Fascinating !!
It is located right in the centre of Oslo city. It is world's largesr sculptures park by same artist Gustav Vigeland. There are about 200 hundred of them. If you watch them very closely, it shows entire life of a human being, right from birth to death. It has got a lot of depth in to it. No doubut, it's one of the most popular attraction of Oslo. At the same time it's a great place just lie down on grass and relax for few hours specially in summer. Worth seeing...

    Gorgeous statue park
What an awesome park. I call it statue park. Omg I have never seems so many statues in one park. The statues are in exotic positions..well most of them and the park has beautiful benches. The flora and fauna is also gorgeous. It is a very big park so be prepared to do some walking but it is worth it. It is one park you should not miss visiting

    Just an amazing place
We came to this beautiful park and were really amazed. We do like art of all kinds and the sculptures here are amazing, both for their beauty and their meaning. We were fortunate to connect with a local guide who helped us understand the significance of the various pieces and some of the history of the place. This added to our visit immensely.

    Wonderful sculpture park
There is so much to see in this lovely park, with very impressive sculptures, monuments, and fountains. We enjoyed having coffee in the quieter Anne pa landet coffee shop with very relaxing views. We concluded that Vigeland Park and Frogner Park appear to be one and the same!

Unparalleled Sculpture Park But GO EARLY!
I visited Frogner Park at 8am on a Saturday morning to beat the tourist rush. Aside from the occasional jogger, I had the entire place to myself. I recommend doing the same if you want to have an exclusive experience with Vigeland's sculpted figures.

    The Circle of Life
The highlight of our three days in oslo was the visiting Frogner Park, housing the intriguing sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. The sculpture area in Frogner Park covers 32 hectares and features 212 bronze and granite sculptures, all designed by Vigeland in the theme of ‘circle of life’. Impressive!.

    Nice
visited Vigeland Park on a recent trip to Oslo and I was absolutely mesmerized. The park is home to over 200 sculptures by Gustav Vigeland, a Norwegian sculptor who is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century. The sculptures are all made of bronze, granite, or wrought iron, and they depict the human form in all its beauty and complexity.
