The museum is free to enter on the last Wednesday of the month. Therefore we timed our visit to coincide with this free entry - along with hundreds of other people!!! It was really very busy and part of me wishes we had gone on another day for a more peaceful experience. However, the buildings are beautiful and the exhibits were fascinating. There is a roof terrace at the top of the museum with lovely views over the city.

What a beautiful museum, amazing statues, best part for us was the Egyptian part including the mummies and sarcophagus, very interesting. Do not take any backpacks unless you are prepared to put them in a locker which you need to pay for. Some useful advice - The museum offers free entry on the last Wednesday of each month which is the reason we went, so glad we did though.

Beautiful museum space of ancient and modern art. Permanent collection of imposing Greco-Roman statues. Anthological staging of works of the 800-900 (mainly French and Scandinavian Impressionists and Expressionists) very interesting. Restaurant overlooking the conservatory, beautiful but impractical for crowding and humid heat; small shop with a selection of cute objects also as souvenirs for a few euros. Spacious and clean bathrooms. Free storage space for personal items and self.

We went to the Glyptotek since it is free to the public on the last Wednesday of each month. Notwithstanding the promotion, is was not as full as I woudk have expected a free museum to be. While it really has some impressive works - the French art is really something - it has more roman and some Egyptian art. The only point is that that signals within the museum can be a little confusing. Not the place if you don't like art though

The Glyptotek is located next to the Tivoli Gardens in downtown Copenhagen. The museum was founded by brewer Carl Jacobsen who was also a great art patron. Collections include some fascinating sculptures, antiquities and also an exquisite collection of impressionist paintings made by artists Manet, Renoir, van Gogh, and others. The architecture of the museum should also be noted and especially the Winter Garden is very beautiful. A few days before our visit we checked hours and admission prices on the museum’s internet site. Unfortunately, prices had just been increased by a whopping twenty per cent when we visited – much more than the average inflation rate.

I’d often came across photos of the sculpture Les Bourgeois de Calais by Auguste Rodin, but this year was the first time I saw it in person at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen, where one of the 12 original casts of this sculpture group is displayed. It made a stunning impression on me. I couldn’t tear myself away from it—I walked away, returned, and thought that visiting this museum was worth it just to see Les Bourgeois de Calais. Probably anyone can experience a similar feeling here, as among the thousands of sculptures and paintings, there is bound to be one that will touch even the coldest heart. If you’re in Copenhagen, don’t miss it!

Simply wonderful. The palm house section, the mummies and the ancient Greek statues are unparalleled - the galleries go on and on. You could spend days here. Truly a must for lovers of culture and history.

Wow, the Glyptoteket is amazing! Definitely recommend going if you want to see art and sculptures. I really enjoyed the special exhibition “After nature.” Be ready to spend at least an hour there, it is huge and the paths are a bit weird sometimes, so it’s easy to miss exhibitions. Also, one of my favourite musem shops - so many beautiful things I would have loved to buy. You have to put bigger bags in a locker, which cost 20dkk.

Frankly, our #1 pick in Copenhagen. In addition to a very good collection of impressionist and post impressionist art (a mini MdO) , at least 4 Van Goghs, numerous Gauguin (many in their original frames), one early Picasso, a Toulouse-Lautrec painting, several excellent Rodin, a smattering of Cézanne, Degas, it also includes an outstanding collection of Roman, Greek, Etruscan, Persian and early Mediterranean civilization statuary and cultural artifacts. All housed in a very novel facility. Its scale is easily digestible in 5 hours, that is to say plan on spending more than the recommended time.

The museum is rich and varied, with finally quite a few French works (a copy of Rodin’s Bourgeois de Calais, paintings by Gauguin, Monet). We are not bored and the central garden is sumptuous! A big downside: all the guides (including Routard 2023-2024) indicate that the museum is free on Tuesdays. Well this measure was removed in 2023. After two days of sunshine, we had bowed this visit for rainy Tuesday. No choice but to pay 125 DK (17€). Too bad...
