    Up for a view
We went up the hill taking the funicular. It's a short ride but worse to try specially with kids. There is a nice gift shop where you can find some souvenirs. Once at the top, there are public toilets, a restaurant and a cafe where you can sit and have a drink or a meal with a beautiful view around. View is great from above. You can also visit the little church and lit a candle if you wish.

    What a view!
You think the views from the Acropolis are amazing but they are nothing compared to here! Be aware it's quite a climb up to the funicular railway (Google Maps is quite wrong to describe the walk from Syntagma as 'mostly flat') and it's pretty crowded up at the top itself. The cafe does lovely iced frappacinos. We avoided the restaurant on the basis of other reviews on here. The highlight for me is the little church. Looks more like a Greek island church than an Athens one from the outside. Stunning paintings on every available surface inside and lots of blingy icons. But it still feels like a church, a holy place,

Better away from the very top
We got a 5 euro uber from Kolonaki district to the cafe just below summit and easily walked the last bit - cheaper and easier than funicular and avoided the complete hike in 25+ degrees (31st October). Summit was very busy at sunset and steps bit below summit were better as less crowded, but thought view from where cars/taxis can get to was actually best, as Acropolis more clearly in view. Overall a bit overhyped, as too many people at the summit observation bit - better to find space of your own a bit lower down, views are much the same.

Great views, worth a trip up.
A surprising highlight of our trip. Incredible vibe and views at the top - great to see the entire city of Athens, including the Acropolis and the sea. We took a taxi to the funicular entrance and then zipped up in it. Its through a tunnel so you don't see anything while in it but its a quick way to the top. The Cafe at the top was also surprisingly good - great service, desserts, and prices were the same as in Plakka and other touristy areas.

    Great spot, views for miles
Great afternoon excursion. Took a cab for 5 Euros that left us near the top and just had to do a couple flights of steps. Views at the very top were worth the trip. Church was nice to see, staff member inside was a bit snippy with candle handling and reinforcing the ‘no pictures’ policy. Took the tram down and the entire walk downhill afterwards was so much easier because we didn’t climb up in the first place.

    Amazing views
Really impressive views of the city from here. We got a taxi from the hotel which dropped us virtually at the top..saved the 7 euros for the railway. Nice little church on the top. Well worth the trip.

    Well worth the effort
When in Athens you cannot avoid seeing Mount Lycabettus and it is inviting you to climb up - which you should. However, if you want to do it by yourself (no guide) you should be aware of a few details. It is quite a long and steep walk even to the funicular, and it is terribly (not) signposted, so you probably shall need to ask for directions. the Greek word is teleferic (Τελεφερίκ). It is a good 20 minutes walk from the metro ((Evangelismos). The alternative is of course taking a taxi. Walking down is easy, and it takes about 40-45 minutes from the top to Syntagma Square. Both the view from the top and the beautiful walk down make it worth while.

    Great views- strenuous climb!
There are amazing views as you climb up the hill- we walked all the way and it is strenuous!!! There are a lot of steps at the start in kolonaki district and then a steady winding path. Even if you take the funicular there are a lot of steps to get to the base station, unless you get transport to drop you at the funicular station. At the top is a little church and it gets very very crowded at the top. The views are actually better just before the top as there is nothing obstructing it. The view across Athens and out to the coast is fantastic. We also stopped at the cafe on the way down and this was lovely- great place to stop for a drink and take in the views. Free to walk up. Funiculars costs.

    Worth the climb
Great viewing point but busy busy busy in July at sunset The walk from the city up many steps was a challenge. Even using the Telefonica. There is a very smart bar restaurant at the top which was lovely to sit in and if you book some outside tables with great views. Just remember this is a honey pot for insta-photos and hope that people are kind enough to let you have your moment.

    Grand view of Athens
Great place to get above Athens, see the rooftops of the entire city, all the way down to Piraeus and the Saronic Gulf. (Note it.can be quite windy up there.) Little church of St. George sits atop the mountain with beautiful icons, but no pics allowed inside. Stop in for a frappe or snack at the mountaintop bar/restaurant. Halfway down the mountain by walking path is the Green Tent restaurant; what great food and a beautiful experience at sunset (see pic). The taramosalata was the best I've ever had. You can either walk to the summit or take the funicular rail.

  • Acropolis Hotels
This ancient citadel, built in the fifth century B.C., towers over the city and is home to some of the most impressive ancient ruins, buildings, and artifacts. The most famous temple, the Parthenon, was dedicated to the goddess Athena and is considered the peak of Greek art. You can avoid long lines by joining a walking tour of the site. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen, as the walk up the hill can be steep and exposed to the sun. Wander through the narrow cobblestone alleys of this neighborhood at the foothills of the Acropolis. You'll find quaint shops selling jewelry, clothes, ceramics, and souvenirs, plus sidewalk restaurants and family-run taverns serving authentic Greek food. Being one of the oldest neighborhoods in Athens, you’ll be able to see Roman columns, medieval churches, and ancient landmarks like the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates. The area gets busy, especially during summer, so visit in the early morning or late afternoon for fewer crowds. • Panathenaic Stadium Hotels
The Panathenaic Stadium dates back to the 4th century B.C. and was the site of the first modern Olympic games in 1896 and remains the starting point of the Olympic flame torch relay. Made entirely of white marble, it's an impressive sight that's earned it the nickname Kallimarmaro or "beautiful marble". There are even a couple of hours in the morning designated for morning jogs when you run in the footsteps of former Olympians. Take a stroll up to Ardittos Hill for a panoramic view of the stadium.
