A nice day at the zoo
I went to this zoo last year and had an amazing time! The zoo had so many animals from all over the world. I loved how well the animals were taken care of. The places where they were located at were big and looked like their natural homes. The best thing was when we saw the sea creatures. There were many special types of fish and small sharks. The zoo had really some interesting buildings. Overall the experience was really nice and I will definitely go again.

    A beautiful park!
We enjoyed the many animals and the beautiful park on a beautiful sunny day. Conveniently right next to the station and despite the small surface area, which you do not experience because of a handy design. In addition to the large animals, a special Komodo dragon and various penguins, there is a nice variety of small special animals such as colorful poison frogs and funny trunk dogs. Also many impressive birds in the savannah. However, a number of cages are being renovated and the zoo is expensive (slightly discounted for people over 60). Handy lockers in the shop at the entrance.

Not everything was open but a nice small zoo
Cute little zoo in the middle of the city. Not sure early March was a good time to go though, a lot of the exhibits were closed for refurbishment. The restaurants and cafes were also closed. So over all a little disappointed, would have been good if the website had more information on what would be closed.

    Small zoo but great experience
We were pleasantly surprised by the evasiveness of this zoo. Normally city zoos are due to their smaller sizes less of an experience than their bigger counterparts far outside of the cities. But the Antwerp Zoo proved to be a multilayered experience. We were multiple times surprised by the details and beautiful habitats. Plus, as the city has a lot of layers it feels bigger than it is.

    Positively surprised!
We are positively surprised, what a beautiful zoo! What we really like is that you can see the animals in both their outdoor and indoor enclosures. You will be led there automatically and you will definitely get to see the animals. It's nice that in addition to some general information about the animal, one or two animals are often highlighted with a name and additional information because they are said to be the oldest, youngest or, for example, the boldest. That makes it very personal. The cages were very clean and all animals had plenty of fresh food available. In addition to the beautiful buildings of the animal enclosures (and the spectacular view of the beautiful Antwerp station), a lot of attention is paid to the gardens and plants. We enjoyed the neatly mowed lawn and the blooming flowers. The music in the aquarium: great! The only downside I found was that there were a lot of staff walking around but no one greeted us. They were busy chatting with each other, walking by without looking or saying anything, or standing still looking at an animal, without paying attention to the visitors for a moment. There is still some room for improvement, a little personal attention towards visitors. But other than that, nothing but praise! The location is also ideal, right next to the station. We parked our car a few hundred meters away at the covered Zoo parking lot and stayed there all day for only 6 euros. To do this, you must have the ticket validated at the shop or entrance. Ideal and worth repeating!

    Beautiful park zoo
We visited Antwerp Zoo on a bank holiday afternoon; the weather was lovely and the zoo wasn't too crowded. The zoo and its historic buildings are woven into a park. As the zoo isn't particularly big, half a day is enough for a tour, but you could certainly spend a whole day there with more breaks and observations. The highlights for us, in addition to the overall appearance, were the okapis and the buffalo savannah with its numerous birds. We can definitely recommend visiting this zoo, even if the entrance fee is a bit excessive for its size and what it has to offer.

    Nice but not cheap
Nice zoo excursion. There were works going on so we didn't get to see the hippos. Ate hamburger fries in Savanne resto for 16.60 euros without sauce, that's a lot. Only for middle class and rich people. Luckily I got 1 ticket for free via Dag Allemaal. We can afford it but still too expensive. Hopefully less well-off citizens will receive a big discount for their entrance. But they will still have to take their sandwiches with them and not go to a restaurant.

    A lovely central zoo
A really great zoo. It was a rainy day but this didn't affect our enjoyment as most animals can be viewed from inside the zoos beautiful buildings as well as outside by imaginative use of space. It was clear the animals were well looked after with plenty of space, food and stimulation. The buildings are beautiful with themes such as Egypt and Ancient Greece. Stunning butterfly house. Some unusual animal species were a pleasure to see. Good straightforward labelling. The cafe deserves a special mention as it occupies an attractive well lit space and the food and drink options are excellent.

    Excellent family day out
We visited Zoo Antwerp as part of a family holiday. We were staying in Centre Parcs in Peer for 2 weeks so wanted to explore more of surroundings outside of CP. the drive was around 1hr 15mins. It was easy to find and we parked in a multi-storey car park, which was around €20 for 6 hours, not cheap but we didn’t have a choice and it is the city. We are always sceptical about zoos, what animals they have and how they are treated, Zoo Antwerp has to be one of, if not the best zoo I have visited. We were a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children 3 and 6. We all absolutely loved it! We thought it was quite pricey at €100 for all of us but I felt it was definitely worth it, as did the rest of the family. The zoo is beautiful, the buildings, with their historic architecture and all the gardens. All the animals looked happy and content and for a city zoo, they had plenty of space. There is so much to see, lots of education for the children, play parks and great food hall, though some of the food was pricey and didn’t look great but there is lots of choice and the facilities were excellent. All in all, it was a great day out, if we return to Antwerp, we will definitely revisit. If you have a little spare time, pop into the Central station next door too, again some beautiful architecture.
