- tal pereiraMilan, Italy7 contributionsCaravaggio art made me cry 🥹Stepping into the Pinacoteca di Brera was a personal journey of awe, where the inner beauty of the gallery unveiled itself in stark contrast to the neglect outside. The perfect illumination and pristine cleanliness created an intimate connection with each masterpiece, complemented by the warmth and friendliness of the staff who made the experience uniquely personal. The cozy café became a retreat, adding a touch of comfort to my exploration. Encountering Caravaggio's work was a deeply emotional moment, catching me off guard with tears that spoke to the profound impact of the art. The experience made the visit to Pinacoteca di Brera not just a tour through art but a personal encounter with beauty that renders it absolutely worthwhile.Visited December 2023Traveled soloWritten December 30, 2023
- MarinaSorocaba, SP290 contributionsAmazing museum! The museum is amazing, the building itself is so beautiful and the museums collection is beyond incredible. There are so many breathtaking works, and the pieces from Francesco Hayez are so beautiful. I definitely recommend getting there as early as possible, because it can get very crowded and difficult to enjoy. We thank you for your visita and we are Happy that you enjoyed our Museum:-)Written April 10, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 31, 2024
- Gary TTel Aviv, Israel226 contributionsItalian mastersHousing a large amount of Italian art. Each piece has a plate in Italian and English giving the name of the artist, when it was painted and info about the painting. Well organised. Was fairly empty at 8:30 but got a bit crowded with groups of school kids around 10:00. Allow at least 3 hours to see it all.We thank you for your visit and we are happy that you enjoyed our Museum:-)Written May 7, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 5, 2024
- Dan12324 contributionsA lot of saints, but still worth itYes, the museum is primarily religious art, which can get boring quickly. But the museum has excellent notes, which makes at least many of the paintings one would walk by quickly more worth spending time with. And the building is excellent, and there's enough richness here that if you like art at least a little, it's worth the effort.Thank you for visiting us, we are happy that you liked our collection and our organization :-)Written May 25, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 14, 2024
- RobertB667DOttawa, Canada93 contributionsWell put together and impressive collection.Lovely museum. Lots of mostly 15th-18th century pieces, with some more modern and Medieval. Some big name pieces (meaning for me, nanes I recognize) and much good description in English and Italian. Some nice ones more kid focussed with sone interesting questions. The restoration display was particularly inteteresting to me.Thanks for your visit, we are happy that you enjoyed our museum:-)Written August 5, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 27, 2024

Do yourself a favor, stop in the cafe for a coffee or tea and go back to see more of the art after. - travelsafer7,169 contributionsGreat art at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, ItalyI really wanted to see this museum again after so many years. The collection is much smaller than other famous italian museums but is absolutely worth a 2-3 hour visit. We visited in a Sunday and the museum wasnt packed. The ticket office and museum are on the second floor. In the biggest rooms there are some worknif art of the 20th century that belong to the museum but are seldom shown because of lack of space. One of the rooms has a painting that is shown as being restored for the visitors under glass. Absolutely recommended.Thank you for your visit and for the kind words about our Museum:-)Written August 9, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 8, 2024
- Josie IinoCambridge, United Kingdom735 contributions4.5 stars; great museum!I very much enjoyed our time here! I thought the museum was very clean, slick, with a gorgeous interior design that emphasised the artwork. The exterior was gorgeous. The descriptions are solid for English speakers. The cafe was slightly overpriced but I thought it was nice. I am no art aficionado, but there are some highlights for art lovers: Bellini, Raphael, and Caravaggio. I also really enjoyed the collection of polyptychs that were on display. It is a wonderful collection of Italian master art.Thank you for your visit and your kind words about our collection and our organization.Written August 20, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 19, 2024
- futtock21London, United Kingdom17,226 contributionsMilan’s premier art galleryComprising thirty or so rooms on the first floor of a Baroque Palazzo the Pinatoceca di Brera displays lays masterpieces of.italian art from medieval times to the eighteenth century. The highlights are works by Bellini, Raphael and Tintoretto. There are twentieth century works but these are in temporary display cabinets awaiting a move to an adjoining building at some indeterminate point in the future. The collection is the legacy of the French occupation of Italy by Napoleon Bonaparte. The metro station we used to access the gallery is called Monte Napoleone. There is a cafe and a small bookshop in the ticket office on the ground floor.Thank you for your visit, we are happy that you enjoyed our museum:-)Written August 27, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 26, 2024

- Museo Del Novecento HotelsThe Museo del Novecento, located inside the Palazzo dell'Arengario in Piazza del Duomo, hosts a collection of over four thousand works that catalyze the development of 20th century Italian art. The Museo del Novecento was established on 6 December 2010 with the goal of spreading knowledge of 20th century art and offering a more comprehensive insight into the collections that the city of Milan has inherited over time. Beside its core exhibition activity, the Museum is active in the conservation, investigation and promotion of 20th century Italian cultural and artistic heritage with the final aim of reaching an ever wider audience. With an eye toward the city, the Museo del Novecento develops around multiple locations. The Permanent Collection follows a chronological path where collective exhibitions alternate with solo art shows. The grand spiral staircase inside the building welcomes visitors and introduces them to the visit of the Museum with the Il Quarto Stato (The Fourth Estate) by Pellizza da Volpedo. The bookshop and the restaurant are the Museum's meeting places. The Neon by Lucio Fontana represents a final embrace to the city. Reflecting Milan's feverish cultural dynamism, the Permanent Collection is essentially the story of several private collections that have been brought together thanks to the generosity and passion for art of many private collectors. Since its inception, the collection has been augmented by major gifts from artists, collectors and philanthropists who play an active role in the growth of the Museum's heritage, which today reflects the rich trajectory of art from the early 20th century through the present. An outstanding example of architecture and, today, an impressive installation communicating directly with the city, since 2010 the Palazzo dell'Arengario has accommodated the Museo del Novecento. This landmark building, designed by Griffini, Magistretti, Muzio, and Portaluppi, was renovated by the Rota Group to host a richly layered collection of 20th century Italian art. The transformation of the Palazzo dell'Arengario was dictated by the need to organize the composition of Milan's Civiche Raccolte d'Arte (Municipal Art Collections) around two distinct poles. While the historic premises of Villa Reale were meant to host collections dating from the 19th century, the Palazzo dell'Arengario was singled out for the exhibits of 20th century artwork. The latter was particularly meaningful for the harmony existing between its architecture and the collection it was meant to display. This project enabled to best exploit the interior premises, while turning the building into one of the major cultural places in Milan. The grand spiral staircase inside the building is probably the most impressive architectural feature of the Museum: a functional element that connects several levels, from the subway up to the panoramic terrace overlooking the Duomo.Read more
