Once off the ship, we opt for a walking tour of Naples and its beautiful center. We reach via San Gregorio armeno, a street I knew from stories, videos, classic Christmas services, and I must say that I had very high expectations for this cross-section of the city that is more unique than rare I think worldwide. Well being immersed in that artisan magic, although in June and with 30 degrees, it respected my expectations to the maximum. An impressive number of shops with products that are among the most beautiful, complex, but at the same time other simple, playful and ironic, something that must be experienced. Mandatory stop in Naples, you can not get out of there without at least a couple of figurines, only limit the space of what you can bring with you.

This is a street in the historic center of Naples that you have to walk through several times. You see different things every time. All stores sell pretty much the same thing: miniatures. You will find numerous miniatures of many famous people in the world, especially Maradona and Pulcinella, here. We were there in April, so not during the Christmas period, because then everything seems to be all about Christmas.

Famous street for seeing the nativity scene shops where there are also several figurines of famous people. However, it is also an interesting visit for purchasing souvenirs. I recommend paying close attention to the crowd of curious people who are always present in which even bad guys could easily hide.

...it is an ancient Roman street!!...and in the past here there was a temple consecrated to the goddess of fertility and earth!!...and citizens brought as an ex voto statues or little thoughts!!...for this reason the street was full of stalls and artisan shops that prepared these things to be taken to the temple!!...and then a monastery was built on this temple!!!...and some nuns who had fled Constantinople brought here the relics of the bishop of Armenia!!...who was St. Gregory!!...so over time Christianity and the tradition of the birth of Jesus spread!!...for this reason the rich Neapolitan families requested statuettes with the characters of the Christian Gospel!!...and votive statuettes were no longer produced!!...for this reason then with the development of the tradition of the Neapolitan nativity scene Via San Gregorio Armeno!!!...became famous!!...and even today here the artisans and artists pack by hand the various statuettes!!!...I think I passed in this street right at the best time of the year!!!...the first days of December!!...and I saw the artisans and the shops in their maximum splendor!!!...and here you can admire real works of art!!!...even if in the rest of the year the shops are almost all open!!!!!!!!️

Narrow street in the oldest part of Naples. In the past, the famous Neapolitan Christmas figures were made and sold here, but nowadays you have to look carefully for them. Today, this craft shows itself in figurines of all kinds of celebrities and miniature objects such as fish crates, bread baskets, etc. A mecca for owners of dollhouses. This has made it all less authentic and very touristy. In this street, just above street level, there is a very vaguely recognizable statuette of Demeter from the 7th century BC (!).

You can't miss it. Characteristic and splendid. It has decorations for every type of nativity scene, real nativity scenes, horns and all sorts of small objects. You can also enter the workshops and see the artisans at work.

Remains fun, especially if you want to fabricate a nativity scene yourself. Lots of tourist junk, but also lots of handicrafts. The prices are high. Mat especially for the clay baked products that you can paint yourself and are simply made in a mold, the prices are absurd. But also nice stuff!

Mandatory stop for those going to Naples. Being famous all over the world makes it wrongly stage of the Christmas period, instead throughout the year the shops exhibit the statuettes and the various sets of the nativity. Very beautiful statuettes of the most popular characters of the moment: this year Sinner and Trump above all. Inevitable Silvio Berlusconi and Diego Maradona. Statuettes and nativity scenes of every size and price. This year for the first time in December. I thought a bolgia instead the one way to climb makes the way livable even in this moment.

At Christmas time it is filled with stalls and cheerful traders who sell their handmade creations with a smile. The street is narrow but, with due caution, can be visited without major hitches. Here we bought some gifts for family and friends. Not to be missed if you happen to be in Naples during the holidays.

Narrow pedestrian street strictly one way!!! Perhaps the most famous street that connects Spaccanapoli to Via dei Tribunali. Each workshop exhibits pieces for the nativity scene. To see better if in the early morning.

  • Underground Naples Hotels
Check out a different side of Naples—think: an extensive labyrinth of tunnels that snake underneath the entire old town. Underground Naples offers a fascinating combination of caves, galleries, and passages 131 feet below the ground. Follow the official Napoli Sottrerranea route, which will bring you to the Roman Theater and the Greek-Roman aqueduct, or join a separate tour to visit the Galleria Borbonica which used to be a tunnel intended for the then King of Naples to flee if intended. It's highly recommended to pre-book skip-the-line tickets online to avoid long lines at the entrance. – Tripadvisor

Enchanting scenery that unfolds to the eyes of visitors, a secret place full of history and magic atmosphere. An emotional journey that conducts visitors in the new section of the underground of Naples. It is situated in Vico del Grottone 4, from to 150 mt. to Plebiscito Square. Until a few years ago it wasa veterinary laboratory, now is the entrance of the Bourbon Tunnel. A staircase with 8 ramps, 33 yards deep descending into the belly of Chiaia. The second entry is in Via Domenico Morelli,40, through the crosswalk of “Quick parking”.The Tunnel was built in 1853 by Ferdinand II of Bourbon, who, concerned about the outbreak of rebellion, he asked for an escape from the Royal Palace to the barrack in Via della Pace, now Via Morelli. The work was uncompleted and, during the second World War, was used by residents of the area as a military hospital, later becoming the Hall Judicial Deposit. The war left its mark even in the subsoil. That’s way there are handwrite, folding beds, messages of wish and desolation of those who lived it and still maintains its memory. Along the tunnel thereare also the evidences, 530 meters, where visitors can discover the history of real life. Through the spacious streets, it’s easy reachable the network of tunnels and cisterns of seventeenth-century,large buildings, where worked the "pozzari", the only connoisseur of Naples underground. The show is stunning, but that's not finished. On Via Morelli appear statues dating back to fascist period and many cars and motorcycles, abandoned for years, freed from piles of rubbish, arranged and illuminated ad hoc for the route.Nothing is left to chance, even lighting, perfectly integrated with the path of the visitors.Since today everything is possible to visit. Five years ago the scenery was completely different.Rubbish, degradation, wastes of all kinds covered the reliquaries.

  • Teatro di San Carlo Hotels
The Teatro di San Carlo was designed by the architects Giovanni Antonio Medrano and Angelo Carasale for the monarch since Charles wanted a new and larger theatre for Naples to replace the old and dilapidated Teatro San Bartolomeo of 1621. On 12 February 1816 the San Carlo was destroyed by fire. The Theatre was re-designed by the architect Antonio Niccolini and rebuilt within ten months on order of King Ferdinand IV. In 1845 there was additional refurbishment and, by 1854, the theatre's interior appearance changed to the now-traditional red and gold. Now carefully restored to its former splendour, the San Carlo is the oldest working theatre in Europe.
