Hotels near Casa Milà - La Pedrera

Casa Mila, popularly known as La Pedrera, is a most unusual building, constructed between 1906 and 1912 by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) and declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1984. Today it is the headquarters of Fundacio Catalunya La Pedrera and houses a cultural centre that is a reference point in Barcelona for the range of activities it organises and the different spaces for exhibitions and other public uses it contains. A visit to La Pedrera, landmark building and container, gives us a better understanding and appreciation of architecture and transports us to the period when Antoni Gaudi lived.

    Very good.
Get there well ahead of your time. There's a single line for those with and without tickets and it doesn't split till you get to the end (I suspect there isn't room for two lines). At first it's interesting. Then you go a little higher and it's more interesting, Then you hit the attic, and see its architecture, and the models of Gaudi's other works, ... and then the payoff: the roof. It's like a playground for your eyes and brain. Take a hat and water, it will be hot up there.
We love to hear that you enjoyed the experience! Thank so much for taking your time to write this comment!

    Block of flats
The whole ticket / queue situation for many site in Barcelona is a mess tbh. Poorly organised, expensive, subject to abuse etc etc. Once we got in it wasn’t bad particularly if you’re intrigued by Gaudi or maybe love his work. To be honest it left me a bit cold. The idea that much of his work was inspired by nature is ‘interesting’ ….what has nature done to deserve that! The experience was ok and in the end it was reasonably well laid out but basically it’s a block of flats with a few strange items on the roof! …..I’ll sit back and wait for so stick I’m sure but hey everyone’s different and you’ll probably love it!
Thanks for sharing your experience at La Pedrera - Casa Milà. It helps us to constantly improve. We are sorry you were disappointed with the visit, which has been designed so that you can enjoy both the building and learn about the architecture of Antoni Gaudí. Finally, we would also like to inform you that the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation allocates the revenue from the tickets it sells to social, environmental, educational and cultural projects led by the Foundation itself. We work hard so that visitors have a pleasant visit to La Pedrera and we are sorry that the visit was not to your liking. Sincerely,

    Expensive but beautiful
The price is really not friendly, but contrary to Casa Batlló (which is about 50 % more already) you can really see everything, including the vault and a tiny museum of the materials. This building is bigger, more interesting (the chimneys) and a newer one (meaning his style was developed into bigger perfection). If you only have the time or budget for 1 house of Gaudi, be sure to pick this one over Casa Batlló.
Thanks for sharing, your opinion is very valuable!

Another highlight of any visit to Barcelona.
A really great insight into how the great genius, Gaudi, visualised and executed buildings unlike any other architects of the time. It was the last private residence he built before devoting his life to Sagrada Familia. The audio system is great. It senses where you are in the building and narates all the info pertaining to that area.

    Gaudi's Best
We simply loved this place. The interior areas are special, but the roof sculptures were even better. What an experience! Be sure and spend some time in the gift shop. We collected some nice Gaudi-themed items as souvenirs.

    La Pedrera, Barcelona
I bought a premium ticket to La Pedrera. It was a worthwhile experience because the ticket allows you to visit special rooms in the casa. Silvia, my guide, was delightful. Her love of working in this environment is evident. We ended the 90 min tour with a chilled glass of cava and delicious cookies that popped in your mouth. I highly recommend this guided tour.

Give priority to visiting here rather than Sagrada Familia
Can learn much about Gaudi here especially in the attic with its models & methods of construction for various sites. Helpful staff and we used the free digital guides you are given on entry. They follow you round and the recording changes where ever you are in the building. We had two highlights - the fully furnished apartment - quite large with various rooms and original furniture of the time [early 20th C]. Much thought given by Gaudi to the layout, for natural lighting etc. The other highlight was, of course, the roof top with the various chimney types and air vents. You miss much if this is closed due to bad weather, so rearrange if this happens. Good views over the city.

    Undulating Architecture
This is one of the superb Mondernista buildings, originally apartments. Very unusual undulating design. It's on everyone's bus tour and walking tour, so be prepared for big crowds. But since it is located on the wide Passeig, you can step back and get a good perspective and a good photo.

    Pricey but worth it
Although I preferred Casa Batllo, Casa Mila is definitely worth a visit. It’s perhaps the most unique apartment complex in the world. The audio guide provides fascinating insight into the building without being boring or difficult to understand. I recommend making sure you tour the apartment as there are lots of interesting details here. The other highlight of the visit is the roof, with its unique chimneys. Although there are lots of stairs on the roof. But there is an elevator that you can take downstairs if you need to

  • Basílica de la Sagrada Familia Hotels
Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is a church devoted to the Holy Family. One of Antoni Gaudi’s most famous works, the church is perhaps best known for still being under construction since 1882—with works funded purely by donations. Take a lift to the top of the towers for a panoramic view of the city and marvel at the ornate architecture. The nativity facade and crypt have also been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. Skip the line with a pre-booked tour with tower access, or combine your visit with another of Gaudi's work, Parc Guell. – Tripadvisor

This pedestrian-only street is a rite of passage for first-time travelers in Barcelona. Starting from Plaça de Catalunya, amble along the boulevard where you'll find food kiosks and spot famed attractions like the Gran Teatre del Liceu theater, the Palau de la Virreina Palace, and La Boquería market—the city’s famous marketplace. Entertainment is plenty too thanks to the human statues and caricature artists, amidst other wacky street performers. If you’re not planning to shop, enjoy a jug of sangria at any of the tapas bars and people-watch away. Besides joining city tours, Barcelona’s hop-on hop-off bus is another great way to get here. – Tripadvisor
