- macneillfamilyLavenham, United Kingdom218 contributionsMust see attraction in SevilleAlways very busy, I would advise you make a pre booking online and book for 9.30 slot which is when it opens. You can book on the day from 9am, however remember to bring your passport. The Alcazar has some stunning architecture and gardens and is well worth visiting. However it is not a patch on the Alhambra in Granada.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 4, 2023
- HappyHolidays074Birmingham, United Kingdom90 contributionsBook ahead, stay out of the sunObviously you are going to visit, it's the main attraction. However, book ahead, even out of season, save yourself the queue. If you go for the audio guide, don't use the app, use their equipment. The app crashed every time I took a photo on my phone and the whole thing needed restarting which was really irritating. The grounds are extensive, but in October looked tired and parched. My memories of the Alhambra in Granada have not been surpassed.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 17, 2023
- Jeremy R4 contributionsMake sure you use the real official website when booking ticketsThe Alcazar palace and gardens are a must if you are visiting Seville and as many reviewers have said you will need to book in advance. When doing so be very careful that you use the actual official website. Unfortunately we used one that said they were official guides but turned out to be a company called "mytoptours" which was not mentioned on the website. They then failed to arrive at the meeting point and claimed we had gone to the wrong place and refused to refund us. Also the place closes at 6pm and they start herding you out soon after 5.30 so if you want a longer visit book an earlier time.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 20, 2023
- Theresa SBelfast, United Kingdom49 contributionsAn attraction not to missMy Friends and I spent a few hours at this beautiful attraction. So much to see and admire. The tour guide was very good and very funny. The queue doesn't take long to mov. iI would recommend a visit if in the city.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 22, 2023
- ileftfootprints102 contributionsThe Gardens are Closed!!If you are visiting in the next few weeks please be aware the gardens are closed. I went on Sunday Oct. 22nd and it was raining very hard at the time. I was told that the gardens were closed due to the rain. I rebooked a visit for Tuesday when the weather was better and when I got there was told that the gardens were still closed! Apparently, bad storms about a week earlier caused a huge magnolia tree to fall and took down a couple of large columns with it. From the looks of the damage, it will probably take several weeks to repair. Just a heads up for travelers because their website does not say the gardens are closed. If you are going for the gardens, don't waste money like I did.;-)Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 25, 2023
- BluebellplasnewyddCardiff, United Kingdom2,038 contributionsBeautifulCourtyards, hand made tiles, formal inside waterways, stone carvings in excess. Well worth a trip. We had a guide which facilitated entry but really she was difficult to understand due to intonation of voice. What is important is to wander around yourself and reflect at the marvellous architecture. But who would want to live there!Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 27, 2023
- Stefanja C15 contributionsFantastic palace, rude and unhelpful staffBeautiful palace richly decorated with colourful tiles and wooden fretwork that looks like lace. There is something to feast your eyes on wherever you look. We found the instructions on the tickets confusing and the queues outside were very badly managed with lots of different queues of bewildered visitors unsure where to wait. The few staff available were too busy with security checks to help visitors. We ended up queuing for an hour to get in and then being told we had missed our slot to visit the Royal apartment and this was our fault for not turning up an hour early ( we were early but only by 30 mins) and insisting we skip the queue! The rest of the palace is so amazing it did not really matter in the end, but if you visit, here are some tips: You will need Photo ID for security check. If you book the Royal apartment tour the time on your ticket is for your tour not for access to the palace. Be outside the rooms 15 mins before your tour starts and be prepared to have to leave any bags in lockers. You can visit the palace from up to an hour before your tour of the rooms- the ticket refers to the palace as The monument, so this confused us. I would love to give the palace 5 stars if I could but 1 star for the staff who were unhelpful and one person was quite rude. I will give the 1 star because it was a very busy day and there were not enough staff to cope.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 27, 2023
- Sharon R105 contributionsWell Worth a Visit but bring your passport!!This was a memorable site to visit! Beautiful, interesting history and we enjoyed the audio tour. However…. entering was confusing! We pre-bought “skip the line” tickets with a designated entry time …. there was only one line! It was very long and wrapped around the building! There was no signage indicating where the line was for our time slot… so people for the 1:00 and 1:30 slot were all mixed in and it was very confusing! The most disappointing part was that once it was time to enter you were required to show your passport - this was not indicated on the website or tickets. Our friends were turned away because they did not have their passports with them. Many people were catching taxis back to their hotels to get passports.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 31, 2023
- PhilippaEly, United Kingdom15 contributionsPlan aheadThis is a very beautiful palace but be prepared to jump through a million hoops to get in! We were woefully unprepared and hadn’t booked in advance before we got to Seville, do book in advance unless you enjoy queuing - even as Brits it started to be a bit much! We arrived early, 8.45, to be there when it opened. Very proud of ourselves as we were only second in the queue at 9.30 when it opened. We were then told, and by told I mean brusquely pointed in the direction of a different queue, to buy tickets. We queued for more than 2 hours then to get tickets for 2.00. You will need ID cards of passports and they do not make this clear until you are very near the front of the queue - signage is awful. Luckily we had seen people with theirs and my husband nipped back to our very close by hotel to get them after we joined the second queue - to be fair he had plenty of time as the queue moved at a snails pace! The queues really build so we got there at 1.30 for our 2pm slot. Got to the front, showed out tickets to first wave of security. Got to the second batch of security and told to join another queue (unclear which one so to be honest we just loitered in no man’s land!) because we were too early. Went through metal detectors (fiat enough) and eventually got in. I think getting into North Korea is probably slightly less difficult! It’s a lovely place and the Arabic architecture is incredible. We speak some Spanish and truly do not expect to be pandered to with English signage when abroad. However, the Spanish signage is sparse and you don’t actually get the information you need until it’s too late! Dreadful organisation of the extensive queues, no one seems to know what’s going on. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a must see, but really plan ahead and get the lie of the land or you will waste hours of your break being sent hither and thither!Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 4, 2023
- Lynsay CStirling, United Kingdom71 contributionsMust see Moorish palaceWe followed the advice of other reviewers and booked our tickets in advance. Note, you need to also bring ID with you to get in e.g. passport or driving license. Stunning buildings and beautiful gardens. We spent half a day here. Enjoyed a coffee and beer in the garden while watching a family of peacocks walk past. The Moorish buildings are particularly beautiful.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 7, 2023

- Barrio Santa Cruz HotelsThe Barrio Santa Cruz used to be the Jewish quarter. The streets are narrow and form a labyrinth. - Real Maestranza de Caballeria de Sevilla HotelsBeyond the Iberian peninsula most people are rather uncomfortable about bullfighting, which makes a visit to this venerable bullring with attached museums all the more fascinating – not least for those who would never consider attending a bullfight. An inspection of the ring, and the backstage facilities that sustain it (the Plaza, of necessity, has its own ER) is a good counterpoint to a browse around a museum which is full of artwork and costumes celebrating the skill of the matador together with the mounted heads of their animal nemeses. Go with an open mind and you’ll leave with a much better understanding of bullfighting’s place in the life and culture of Andalucía.Read more
- Triana HotelsFor a more authentic and decidedly less well-scrubbed experience, it’s worth crossing the river to explore this scruffy but vibrant old quarter, historically the centre of azulejo, or glazed-tile production. There are plenty of tapas bars for sustenance to sustain your ceramic shopping, and it’s fun to seek out the surviving corrales. These tiny buildings with flower-smothered courtyards once housed extended the gypsy families from which emerged Spain’s greatest flamenco dynasties.Read more
