Hotels near Barrio Santa Cruz

The Barrio Santa Cruz used to be the Jewish quarter. The streets are narrow and form a labyrinth. It’s easy to get lost among the jasmine-scented streets… only to discover a convent or a palace or a hotel. Many of the palaces have wrought iron gates suitable for peeping into their beautiful patios. There are many small stores and some artisan shops, as well as good art galleries.

One of the must-see tours of Seville. Getting inside its streets invites you to look up to see picturesque buildings and stop for reeds and tapas. Recommended for before or after visiting the Cathedral. The views of the Giralda, especially at night for its correct lighting, are the best prize for visitors to this city.

Barrio Santa Cruz is the heart of Seville's old town, with its narrow, winding streets, quaint squares, and whitewashed houses. It feels like you’ve stepped back in time. There are plenty of cozy tapas bars and artisan shops to discover. Getting lost here is part of the fun! The atmosphere is so vibrant, especially in the evening when the flamenco music starts echoing through the alleys.

Choosing a hotel in the Barrio Santa Cruz we had the opportunity to experience the most beautiful district of Seville at various times of the day, see the Cathedral with the Giralda and the Alcazar with sunlight and evening lighting. It was the beginning of January and there were still Christmas decorations, walking in the morning on the streets enlivened by colorful houses, stopping in front of the windows full of characteristic objects was pleasant. And it was also nice to take the walk after dinner, because despite it being January, it was not so cold.

Santa Cruz quarter refers to Jewish quarter in Seville, one of the oldest ones. Therefore, it's easy to conclude it's set in the central area, very close to Seville Cathedral and Alcazar. Just a look at Maps will tell you how irregular this area is, consisting of narrow winding streets, small alleys,... The area has tons of small cafes, restaurants, cute small shops,...with colorful houses, so go around, get lost and enjoy.

One of the most fascinating neighbourhoods in the city. It is located in the oldest part of the city and encompasses the historic and artistic districts. I loved walking in the narrow streets, among the brightly coloured buildings, the typical Andalusian balconies and the squares lined with orange trees. There was a fantastic display of flowers and orange blossom. Famous buildings: the Royal Citadels, the Indian Archives building, the Cathedral or the Town Hall, many churches and the baroque monastery are also located here. A must-see.

Very near the centre of all things touristy but not that you pay a price premium. So many little streets to find and get lost in. All the amenities you'd need but also good places to shop and eat. Went here every day for a week and was still finding stuff on our last day.

In Seville, Alcazar, the Cathedral, and the Park have gathered enough for maybe four to five cities. The Santa Cruz neighborhood is also a must-see with its squares, historical artifacts, museums, and blockled parks. In particular, Real Alcazar has hosted a number of dramatic scenes, including the start of the fifth season of Game of Thrones. (as the home of the Martell dynasty)

Enjoyed walking through this neighborhood that is close to major sites such as Seville Cathedral and the Alcazar. A cool way to enter the neighborhood is go into the courtyard where they sell day of tickets for the Alcazar. On the other side of the Alcazar ticket office is a pathway/tunnel that leads into the neighborhood. This is the former Jewish quarter of Seville but Jews were driven out of Seville beginning with riots in the late 1300’s and forced to leave Spain by royal decree in 1492. Just fun to walk around and get lost in the narrow lanes. Lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops along with beautiful architecture. Don’t worry about getting lost. Eventually, you will come out of the neighborhood or see the Giralda, so you can find your way back.

Beyond the Iberian peninsula most people are rather uncomfortable about bullfighting, which makes a visit to this venerable bullring with attached museums all the more fascinating – not least for those who would never consider attending a bullfight. An inspection of the ring, and the backstage facilities that sustain it (the Plaza, of necessity, has its own ER) is a good counterpoint to a browse around a museum which is full of artwork and costumes celebrating the skill of the matador together with the mounted heads of their animal nemeses. Go with an open mind and you’ll leave with a much better understanding of bullfighting’s place in the life and culture of Andalucía.

For a more authentic and decidedly less well-scrubbed experience, it’s worth crossing the river to explore this scruffy but vibrant old quarter, historically the centre of azulejo, or glazed-tile production. There are plenty of tapas bars for sustenance to sustain your ceramic shopping, and it’s fun to seek out the surviving corrales. These tiny buildings with flower-smothered courtyards once housed extended the gypsy families from which emerged Spain’s greatest flamenco dynasties.

Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.
