We purchased our tickets weeks in advance online. I tried to book a guided English tour. They only offer one daily at 11:30am but the weekend we were in Seville, the English tour was not offered for reasons unknown. So I booked the regular entrance ticket with audio guide. I do recommend pre booking your ticket because there was no line up to enter compared to the crowded line for people with no online ticket. In my opinion the self guided audio tour was more than adequate. It allowed me to book a time that was convenient for our schedule. And by 5pm many of the large tour groups had left, leaving it less crowded. The audio guide was helpful explaining everything. Initially I tried to follow the recommended pathway but it was a little confusing. Each room/section displayed a number that corresponded on the audio guide and it’s not necessary to follow any specific order. So I just did a clockwise order and was able to view and listen to everything at my own pace. The Giralda visit is up 34 levels of ramps. It is slightly steep but take your time and there are outcroppings every couple of levels where you can rest. The view from the top is nice, however the openings are obscured with wire protectors that makes taking photos challenging. Is it worth it? The walk up does require moderate physical activity but in my opinion it’s worth it to see the old city from a different perspective. There are other tours such as a rooftop and stained glass tour, but I can’t comment on it because I did not purchase them. The Cathedral is a must do when visiting Seville. My personal tips would be to book tickets online a few weeks ahead, visit first thing in the morning or late afternoon, purchase the audio guide, and plan to spend 90 minutes to see everything.

The Cathedral of Seville, officially known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Sede, is one of the most iconic architectural wonders of Spain and an imposing symbol of the city of Seville. Built on the site of a large Almohad mosque, this Gothic cathedral is the largest in the world in terms of volume and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Cathedral of Seville is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, characterized by huge naves, pointed arches and stained glass windows that flood the interior with light. The exterior is adorned with intricate details, with spires, statues and reliefs adorning the facades. The Giralda, the former minaret converted into a bell tower, is one of the most iconic elements and offers spectacular panoramic views of the city. The Giralda combines Moorish and Renaissance architectural styles, representing the cultural fusion of Seville. The interior of the cathedral is equally breathtaking, with its vastness and grandeur that leave you breathless. The nave is imposing, with a vaulted ceiling that rises to the sky. The high altar, known as the Retablo Mayor, is one of the largest in the world and a masterpiece of gilded sculpture, depicting scenes from the life of Christ. Of great interest is also the Royal Chapel, which houses the tombs of the Castilian kings, and the Mausoleum of Christopher Columbus, a monument dedicated to the famous explorer. The Cathedral of Seville houses a rich artistic and religious treasure. The Cathedral Treasury contains an extraordinary collection of sacred objects, including reliquaries, processional crosses and liturgical vestments, many of which are made of precious materials and decorated with skill. Among the works of art, paintings by renowned artists such as Murillo and Zurbarán stand out. We bought a Seville pass on the Tigets website, so we avoided the queue, you have to book the time of entry at the time of purchase, the ticket purchased for 60 euros included the cathedral, the giralda.il real alcazar, hop on hop off for 48 hours and the Iglesias del divino Salvador, we made the most of it and I recommend it also to avoid the queues, otherwise the cathedral and Giralda cost 12 euros, with audio guide (in our case included) 17 euros. The cathedral closes at 6pm, I recommend the climb to the Giralda bell tower, there are 34 floors , but of flight not stairs, so accessible , from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of Seville

Must see attraction in Seville. Beautiful cathedral with remains of Christopher Columbus located here. The main alter is beautiful with many sections dedicated the life and death of Jesus Christ. We ascended the 34-floor Giraldo tower (previously a minaret of the mosque) that was fairly easy to climb because it was a ramp and not stairs. There were many kids, toddlers and elderly that climbed. If you get tired then there are window seats to take a break. Wheelchairs and strollers are not allowed. All in all suitable for most individuals with spots to take a break. Tips: You have to book at least one to weeks in advance. There were many individuals standing outside that couldn’t get tickets on the day. Book the audio guide because it has plenty of information not available on the written text. It cost 5 euros per person. Lots of eating places outside

You have to explore the entire environment to appreciate it from all angles and appreciate both its magnificence and its beauty. Admission is extremely worth it, so I recommend purchasing tickets in advance, both to ensure entry and to avoid standing in long lines. Upon entering, the first thing is access to the Giralda ramp, then you can tour the entire cathedral and the patio of the orange trees. It is magnificent in every way

One of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world and one of the largest churches in the world even if I found conflicting indications on the hypothetical ranking, the entrance is charged and no Reservation is necessary even if strongly recommended in order to find fewer people. inside the tomb of Christopher dove decidedly suggestive and even if perhaps the body is not buried exactly here it definitely makes effect to be in the resting place of one of the most important men in human history. there is then the possibility to climb to the top of the tower and even if the climb is definitely not the easiest it is absolutely worth it. in order to allow in antiquity to climb on horseback there are no steps but a continuous ramp that facilitates the climb. Also for those who should suffer from vertigo the visit is recommended considering that at the top you are absolutely protected and there are no parapets that inspire fear. very beautiful view from above where you can see dozens of swimming pools on the roofs of the houses. the church itself is large and certainly particular if only for the history it contains

The cathedral is wonderful and definitely worth a visit. You have to buy your ticket online first, there are no ticket offices at the entrance and it costs 12 euros the standard entrance which also includes the entrance to the Giralda. Obviously the ticket does not include guides or audio guides, which must be purchased separately. For the visit it takes at least an hour, then it depends on how you want to visit it and how much attention to give it, with a Guide it could take even a couple of hours. Inside the cathedral there are also comfortable and clean bathrooms and there are no time limits for the visit. To go absolutely!

You can’t come to Seville and not see the cathedral but touring the interior is kind of overwhelming. Allow three hours minimum to see it all. This is the third largest cathedral in the world and was built on the site of a former mosque. The exterior is a jumble of architectural styles and it is hard to get a good view of it from the outside because it doesn’t sit on a large plaza. The highlight from the outside is the Giralda tower, which was formally used as the tower for the prayer call, when it was a mosque. The interior is stuffed and almost overwhelmed with religious artwork and iconography. It seems like this church is more of a museum of Spanish Catholicism than a working church. There is a small seating area around the high altar, which has an 80 foot wall of gold covered with scenes from the life of Jesus and Mary. Surrounding the high altar on the walls of the church are other chapels and altars. For good measure, Christopher Columbus is buried here too. Highly recommend buying your ticket in advance and getting the audio tour or going on a guided tour to understand what you are seeing and all the symbolism. Also, get a good map to see how to get to the treasury, which houses gold and jeweled crowns that are placed on the heads of carved saints during Holy Week parades. Entrance with advance online ticket purchase is in the back of the church next to the bell tower (look for white tent). To purchase a ticket the day of, there is a separate entrance near the plaza Virgen. The regular ticket also includes the Giralda tower climb, which is 35 ramps and a few steps. If you get there first thing when the cathedral opens, I would go to the high altar first and then climb the tower. These are the busiest parts of the cathedral. Then, circle around the cathedral walls to see the rest of the cathedral.

The UNESCO world heritage site and historic gothic cathedral of Seville is wonderful. It is quite large and has stunning architecture inside and out. The most impressive part of this cathedral is its very tall bell tower in which you can go to the top of. Some great views from the top although it can be very packed. The inside is stunning and holds the most important part of this cathedral, Christopher Columbus’ tomb. Christopher Columbus’ tomb is out all on display and is a great monument to one of Europe’s most historic figures. This cathedral is very popular so I recommend booking tickets in advance and the queue to get in can be very long. However, you cannot visit Seville without going into the Cathedral.

The Cathedral is truly amazing. And I'm sure most posts go into why that is (gold and Columbus and size for example), so I'll mention some other items. The audio guide is just okay. Even at a high volume, it's hard to hear. And sometimes, the number didn't line up with the display I was looking at. The other issue with all audio guides is it is just a short snippet of information. I'm not convinced it's any better than a placard or reviewing Wikipedia. The tower wasn't worth it in my opinion. Yes, it's high up (34 floors maybe?) and yes you can see far away, but the whole place is wrapped in bird cage wire so forget having a clear view much less pictures and it's very tight with all of the people. For me, it wasn't worth it based on being in other high places. All that said, it is extremely beautiful and I'd recommend getting an actual tour guide for something of this magnitude.

We went to visit the Cathedral having bought tickets in advance, the queues are very long and if it rains worse. We get a lot of rain so in addition to not wasting time we avoid soaking in the wait. The interior is large and with so many works of art that deserve to be visited, in addition to the tomb of Cristobal Colon.

The Barrio Santa Cruz used to be the Jewish quarter. The streets are narrow and form a labyrinth. Beyond the Iberian peninsula most people are rather uncomfortable about bullfighting, which makes a visit to this venerable bullring with attached museums all the more fascinating – not least for those who would never consider attending a bullfight. An inspection of the ring, and the backstage facilities that sustain it (the Plaza, of necessity, has its own ER) is a good counterpoint to a browse around a museum which is full of artwork and costumes celebrating the skill of the matador together with the mounted heads of their animal nemeses. Go with an open mind and you’ll leave with a much better understanding of bullfighting’s place in the life and culture of Andalucía.

For a more authentic and decidedly less well-scrubbed experience, it’s worth crossing the river to explore this scruffy but vibrant old quarter, historically the centre of azulejo, or glazed-tile production. There are plenty of tapas bars for sustenance to sustain your ceramic shopping, and it’s fun to seek out the surviving corrales. These tiny buildings with flower-smothered courtyards once housed extended the gypsy families from which emerged Spain’s greatest flamenco dynasties.
