The experience of climbing 230 meters high in a few moments and enjoying the view of Berlin from above is priceless. We also had dinner in the restaurant while watching the view slowly but very pleasantly turning 360 degrees. Dinner is certainly the best time because you can watch the sunset from a privileged position. The food is not worth the price paid but if I think about the whole experience I recommend it to everyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed it! Loved the 'retro' vibe of it all! But do feel its a little expensive. (But it was something we wanted to visit) .We paid at the ticket machine when we arrived which proved to be a bit of a problem as the machine didn't print the tickets - luckily it never took payment, and printed them on our second attempt. We also discovered, after our visit, that if you booked on line there was on offer that if you went before 10am the ticket price was €5 cheaper! We went at 1030 on a Tuesday and there weren't many people which made the experience better. We fell lucky as it was a clear day and the views are amazing. I recommend taking a bottle of water as it does get very warm and 'stuffy', take your own as the vending machine at the top is also expensive! Food isn't allowed. There is a gift shop too - also expensive! To sum it up - a great over priced experience!

My husband and i booked a ticket for the sphere bar experience includes a drink and snack €79 for both of us. There was no queue we walked straight in. When we got to the top we showed our ticket which said be prompt. The bar area was tiny, we thought we would get a table at least but we had to stand. We got a choice of sparling wine, beer or non alcoholic cocktail then either a meat ball or sausage in a sauce and a bread bun, no veg option bizarre, when i asked the lady she almost laughed in my face. The snack was beyond average. Don’t do this package, Just pay the entry fee and pick a cocktail you would like and eat elsewhere. The staff were rude at the bar the lady that served us was more helpful to the German speaking customers or single males. It definitely wasn’t worth €79 euros we felt ripped off by this experience. The view was the only good experience.

To start with it's not straightforward to find the entrance as it's not where you expect it to be. You will queue to get in if you don't have tickets, then queue to get tickets and then at security and then at the lift. I would recommend that you hang your coats in the cloakroom and get a ticket because there is no air-conditioning in viewing gallery and it's jam packed, and you can hardly move. Once you have walked around you will then have to queue to get the lift down. In all I would say you'll probably spend more time queuing that actually enjoying the view. We went on a really sunny day in October and the views were great, I wouldn't like to say what the views would be like in poor weather. Personally we prefered the Reichstag Dome.

Maybe we were lucky - but we just bought a ticket when we decided to go up the tower. Another couple arrived with their pre-paid ticket but told to come back when it was their allotted time (seemed a bit harsh). So, not 100% sure the benefit of pre-booking? Maybe tickets are cheaper. Anyway, queued inside for around 10 minutes waiting for our turn in the lift. Up top, some really cracking views. Really interesting picking out the landmarks. A lot of people where enjoying a late-afternoon/early-evening beverage and I decided to join them. The only thing that was when bought my drink - at the bar - they presented the payment terminal with various options as to how much tip you wanted to give. Bit of a cheek! (All the chap had done was pout me a drink). I couldn't see the non-tip option and being British was too embarrassed to ask. But it was still a nice drink gazing out the window.

Despite this being our 13th visit to Berlin, it was our first to the observation deck. Arriving slightly earlier than our 11AM admission we were granted entry. There was no queue for the elevator & quickly we found ourself at the top for spectacular 360c views of Berlin and beyond. The information at the viewing platform was available in German, English, French & Spanish. It was great to see the city sights and familiar places from above. There was a bar on the observation deck to make your time viewing the city even more enjoyable. Back at ground level you’ll find a gift shop and the VR experience which I’m so glad that we paid the extra for. There were 2 video options, the history of the TV tower or the history of Berlin. Opting for the latter it was interesting to see Berlin from centuries ago to present day. The experience lasted around 15 minutes and headsets were available in smaller sizes for children too. A memorable visit which I’d highly recommend.

TV-Tower, the restaurant: A very special way to see Berlin from above, and I can recommend it. You need to reserve a table online. You can enter the tower 15 min. before your reservation. Meaning if your table is reserved for 13:00, you can enter the tower at 12:45 and not before (you will not be let in). You can bring a normal rucksack and it will be searched and you will have to go through a metal detector. You then scan your ticket and go to the elevator and a guard will help you enter. The elevator is really fast and you’ll feel your ears pop. Once up you’ll go to the right and your reservation will be checked and you’ll get your table number which is on the lamp on the table. There’s a normal observation deck where you walk round, and the restaurant is upstairs. You seat yourself and a waiter will come. The waiter will give you a menu card but - I thought the food was terrible, the taste and consistency was just disgusting. I’ve been to Germany many times, so I know what it’s supposed to taste like. Just buy coffee and cake and enjoy the view and the fact that you are circling - and it has air-con. I believe you can stay for 2 hours. Once down again you can visit the tourist shop.

Despite the interesting view of Berlin's tourist attractions, visiting the TV tower is an expensive trip for a family with children. Furthermore, the lack of air conditioning is something that surprised me negatively when visiting the place. In the middle of summer, the temperature outside is more pleasant than in the TV Tower.

The TV Tower dominates the Berlin skyline being visible for miles around and as such gives the best views of the city. Yes, it is expensive but it's kind of worth it as it gives such a good introduction to the city and is right there in the middle of everything. Its free of course with a Berlin card - a good reason to get one. The queues are lengthy at times though so it's best to go either early or maybe towards the end of the afternoon. I'm an early riser so getting there early was no problem for me. The exhibition on the history of the tower is worth a look as well to give you a perspective on how and why it was built.

Yep, I like to go up TV towers whenever possible and therefore took the opportunity to do this on a visit to Berlin. Not only because they are architecturally delicious buildings but mainly because the view from these is astonishing. Once up, it's important to take the time to look around and try to find the landmarks you've passed on foot - then you get an idea of how big a city is. I like it because I like to discover cities on foot so of course a tower gets a visit from me. Overall a pleasant experience and if I have to comment on anything it is the completely useless ticket machines outside. Save time and go inside and buy a ticket instead - it lowers blood pressure and makes for a more pleasant start to the trip up to the sky!
