Easily accessible from Notre-Dame de Fourvière, this set is one of the most interesting in France. Two well-preserved Roman theatres lend themselves to wandering. Panels are missing, or are altered which is a shame... On the other hand, visiting the museum seriously completes what would have been a simple walk. This museum is already a jewel of concrete architecture, but above all it presents exceptional pieces of Romans who lived in the Lyon area. It is difficult to mention them all: bronze diploma at the end of military service, authentic Roman wooden pump, superb mosaics, dodecahedra, bronze statues... Very informative and very well done!

Calling this Roman archeological site “ruins” wouldn’t do it justice because so much of the structures are intact. In addition to the main theater, there is a smaller odeon next to it. The site is on Fourviere Hill, just below the Lugdunum museum. For the best experience, walk around the theatres as well as go to the museum.

Went on the funicular railway towards St Just. Large amphitheatre which has some nice views, but seen a lot bigger and better. However the new museum is well worth a visit. Loads of displays over 5 levels. Go from the top to bottom. Impressive building.

A beautiful Roman amphitheater on the hill next to Lyon. Entrance is free and best way to get here is the furnicular to the Church at the top of the hill. It's a short walk down the street. It's amazing to think that this place has existed since the Roman times. Nearby is a museum which we did not visit.
