- Lenny HAuckland, New Zealand1,031 contributionsGreat, but be carefulAn amazing place to visit. So impressive. Even on a wet day the views are good. Our visit, however, was marred by the street pedlars outside. One decided it was okay to put his hands on our son (21), just because we weren’t interested in engaging with him. His mates told him to back off. Just be very careful, hold on to your belongings and stay together. This was our only negative encounter during our entire stay.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 13, 2024
- David BBelfast, United Kingdom1,057 contributionsSacre Coeur basilicaDefinitely a must if in Paris for a holiday. The place is vibrant with a great atmosphere and ambience. The church tower is a must for the Paris view, whilst the church is a place if reflection mediation and pray. If you seek a place for quietness and empty your mind then this place of solitude will work for you. The surrounding district is thronged with tourists and is a venue for street artist who seek their wages with portrait sketches. If you decide to sit for a portrait you may wonder why you paid for all that botox treatments, my wife portrait makes her 30 years younger or maybe the artist should have gone to specsavers or taken less wine 🍷 2 hours sitting so make plans for this! Good bars and restaurants in district. Get the funicular tram up it will save your legs especially if you wish to go up the dome of sacre coeur. 200 plus steps and then do the arc de triomphe later another 200+ steps.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 17, 2024
- RickDenBeaconsfield, United Kingdom520 contributionsWell worth a visitPearched high on the hill at Monmatre, the Sacre Coeur is a must visit place. Being free, it can get quite busy, but is very spectacular inside, and I found the surrounding areas on the hill, and down are great to wander through and grab some food, or just mix with the local artists/shops. You can take the steps up from the Metro, or the funicular depending on how fit you feel. It only cost €1, so won't break the bank!Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 26, 2024
- ClaireBarr67Devon, United Kingdom111 contributionsBeautiful building worth seeingWell worth seeing! We stayed in the Montemartre area so was on the doorstep. Yes a little hilly and some steps but anyone reasonably fit should be able to do it ok (it’s not Everest!) Beautiful building - it was very busy on Saturday so we just did the outside and then returned on Monday to do the inside when it was a little quieter. An iconic landmark that needs seeingVisited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 26, 2024
- NNWSLARRYNewport News, Virginia659 contributionsA truly inspiring churchI took an Uber to get here and they dropped me off at the top of the hill so I did not have to walk up all the stairs. The church has a long waiting line but everything moves along pretty quickly. Once inside you see how truly magnificent this church is. You can even walk up to the dome to get a fantastic view of the city. This is one place you must visit in Paris.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten March 6, 2024
- JohnnyNottinghamshire, United Kingdom304 contributionsA peaceful place in the cityClimb the hill to discover not only stunning views of the city sitting below you but also the beautiful church. There is a queue to get through a security check and then entry to the church itself is free. A peaceful place despite being relatively busy and contains some beautiful statues and decorations. There is a chance to tour the parapets for an additional fee but unfortunately this was unavailable on our visit.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 12, 2024
- Stassy OSofia, Bulgaria85 contributionsOf the best panoramic views in Paris 🩵You should definitely visit the Cathedral as it is one of the symbols of Paris. Right at the entrance, you will have a great view over Paris. Unfortunately, we were not so lucky as it was raining when we visited. If you want you can leave a love lock at the fences. 🔒❣️Side note for the movie lovers, many films are shot there but most recently - John Wick 4 😄Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 13, 2024
- Jackson_Foz do Iguacu, PR1,626 contributionsFree visitation of the BasilicaThe basilica is in the Montmartre neighborhood. There are some steps, but if you pay a small amount you can go up by cable car, if not mistaken, €1.90 each way. You don't need to be in great physical condition to hike up. The church is beautiful and visiting is free. From up there it makes for great photos.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 15, 2024
- grainne187Ireland42 contributionsBeautifulBeautiful monument and is deffinitley worth the visit Be prepared for the climb and steps but there is trams at the bottom that go up and down and was €2.15 per trip! Bit pricey to be honest only on it for a minute or less. I have visited the church before but I found it very pricey this time? Was nearly €40 so just heads up. It is worth it dont get me wrong but did find it priceyVisited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 17, 2024
- merc4496Florida67 contributionsThe view is worth itClimb the steps and receive a breathtaking view. The climb took about 5-8 mins. Next time I would have grab snacks/drink and stopped halfway and enjoyed the view from there. We went around 1400 and it was packed. Entrance to the Basilica is on the left side (be careful crossing the street) a line does form but fast moving. Entrance is free and the Basilica is stunning. Gift shop towards the end. We did not do the panoramic view. Signs are there to do that after exiting Basilica. There is a tram on the bottom on the left hand side to take you up. Not sure what it costs.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 19, 2024
