GOOD COLLECTION AND WELL WORTH A VISIT
A wonderful gallery with a great collection, everything from Lowry to Pre-Raphaelites, modern works, sculpture and Arts and Crafts. The old gallery has been extended and they fit well together. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the collection.

    WOW! You must go!
Haven't visited the gallery for a while so what a transformation! Always thought of it as an interesting but fairly formal gallery majoring in pre- Raphaelite art. Not any more! Its bright, exciting and inclusive. The old masters are still there but mixed in with newer works and great new ways of exhibiting, like for example "Out of the Crate". We all loved it and spent much longer there than intended. In fact we were "kicked out" at closing time and no time to look in the shop!! ( although we found time to use the café). The staff throughout were approachable, helpful and knowledgeable, particular thanks to Robyn who gave us some interesting insights into a number of the works which we would never have known.

A real gem with a fabulous collection of art with purpose, relevance, meaning.
Fabulous collection of art, with excellent descriptions connecting the artwork to the history/culture/person life of the artist. Some thought provoking ideas about communities, the role of women, etc. Will definitely go back asap.

    Always worth a pop in
The Manchester Art Gallery has for years been delivering brilliant displays in all galleries with thought-provoking interpretation and fascinating juxtapositions. Their temporary exhibits are thought-provoking and invite the community and the visitor into the process, even soliciting the assistance of citizen researchers in completing object files. There is a lovely collection of Pre-Raphaelites and Dutch paintings, if that is more your style. The art on display is always moving and having conversations with each other which makes each visit an exciting experience. It's free to visit so it doesn't hurt to stop by and see what it's all about.

    Wonderful works of great masters
It’s a must visit if you are in Manchester. We saw a lot of art students visit and work on some of their assignments also. Its free of charge to enter and people have to make donations to support this art gallery. Though Relatively smaller compared to ones we have visited in London, Paris and Amsterdam, still has a great collection and some over 500 years or older…

    Love it 🥰
Brilliant collection of art from around the world. The staff are all over the place to explain different works and themes around the gallery. Some people don’t like the ‘woke’ concepts… there isn’t any?! Anyway…. It’s a great way to spend a few hours admiring some beautiful pieces of art. We especially loved the Lowry collection and talk that was being held this weekend

    Manchester Art Gallery
My husband and I visited Manchester Art Gallery 3/11/2023 having not visited for a few years. It was a great experience just to amble around the galleries looking at the art and artifacts. Just by chance we started to chat to a member of staff called Louise. Her specialty was Egyptology. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. A great way to spend a couple of hours on a damp Manchester morning.

    Great staff and art
Visited on a damp Manchester afternoon and enjoyed a wonderful two hours in the gallery. Have to leave a particularly glowing comment to the wonderful staff member San who (although new) was very passionate about giving a good visitor experience and recommended perfect pieces to I and my daughter’s described taste and immediately helped us locate a particular piece we had travelled for. Thank you again!

    Well worth a visit
The museum was free to enter, and there was a good collection of paintings to view. There seemed to be a focus on historic art, which I prefer, so I was happy. There was also a lot of work by Mancunian artists showcased. I’d definitely visit again.
