We took in an evening performance of the recent 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' musical tour as we had pencilled it in during our break to Belfast. The staff throughout the venue were top notch, friendly, welcoming and helpful. The facilities in terms of bars / toilets were good. The auditorium / theatre itself is magnificent and has a very opulent feel which made us feel like we were in a special building rather than just another local theatre like the one back home. It made for a special occasion. There cannot be any more superlatives to describe the delivery and quality of the performers on the night; however, I did find one or two age inappropriate bits in the show which were not suitable at all for the age range of 5+ as advertised, which was disappointing and unacceptable. Our family enjoyed the show very much though and my partner would have enjoyed it even more so if it weren't for the lady next to her seemingly spending the entirety of the performance consuming a junk-food four course meal including crisps, ice cream and whatnot. Gluttony at it's finest. We were slightly surprised that many of the audience did not seem to make much of an effort dress wise on the night and although this place is not the 'West End', it is a place a little more deserving of turning up for a performance in general casual clothing. Overall we had a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable evening, although the tickets at nearly £60 each we felt was a little excessive but it was a delight to witness such a quality performance in those surroundings.

The building looks quite modern from the outside but is actually Victorian with modern extensions so I wasn’t really sure what to expect inside. When you enter, it’s into the modern part with seating areas, bars and cafes and a big spiral staircase. It looks brand new and is really plush with quality carpets and furniture. Then when you enter the theatre itself, it’s back to the Victorian style but all nicely decorated and comfortable. London theatres are unbelievably shabby in comparison to this! The boxes with the dome shaped roof and the carved wooden elephant heads make it look like the set of Moulin Rouge! My seat was up in the Gods but it was still really comfortable up there and despite saying restricted view on my ticket, it wasn’t restricted at all and the view of the stage and into the pit was actually amazing! I had a much better view than I did sitting near the front in other theatres. Sound quality was excellent too. Staff are warm and friendly from the box office staff to the ushers. I really enjoyed my visit to this theatre.

Being a first time mum I thought it would be a good idea to take my 3 month old to her first pantomime (I know!) obviously big mistake. Booked good seats and a matinee performance. My anxiety was squashed when a kind theatre assistant Grace gave us aisle seats and greeted us with a big smile. Thank you so much Grace! Baby was very unsettled unfortunately and we had to leave so we seen none of the show at all. Brandon caught us on our way out and kindly offered us to come back another night. We arrived and were again greeted with a smile and given the same seats I had previously booked. Thank you so much for accommodating us everyone and we really enjoyed the show! Will attend every year now after this delightful experience, but will maybe wait until the baby has grown up a bit!

My wife and I love this grand old theatre in the middle of Belfast and over the years have seen some excellent productions, but none quite like "War Horse", brought to the stage by the National Theatre. This spectacular and emotional play requires a very big stage and a vast back stage to house the many props needed to bring the story alive. Many years ago there were fears that the theatre might close but after a large investment and a building programme it was brought up to modern standards, and now attracts the best West End productions regularly. The people of Belfast recognise the importance of supporting the Arts and welcome the varied programmes the Opera House attracts.

We were at the last night of the pantomime and had a fantastic time. Every single member of staff made us feel very welcome. As soon as we arrived the atmosphere was brilliant. I went with my elderly mother who is in her eighties and has mobility issues. All staff were amazing and friendly and helpful. The pantomime was as usual was brilliant and we will be definitely booking for next year. Thank you for making our night a special one.

I went on one of the theatre tours. It was fantastic. Our tour guide Anne-Marie was so passionate about the opera house and her wealth of knowledge about its history was amazing. I would highly recommend this tour if you have 1 hour to spare whilst visiting Belfast.

Took the wife to see pretty women. The Grand opera house is a special location, we do love going here. Usually get centre circle seating as good distance from the stage and a good view. The seats can be a bit uncomfortable if sitting long but the sound and experience is second to none. Nice bar with view of street at intermission too.
