We have been to Cancun and Isla Mujeres many times and we always use the Ultramar ferry. It's safe, convenient and easy to get tickets. It's also comfortable. Below deck is air conditioned but up top you will have a live musician. Very relaxing! You might want to tip the musician. But we didn't mind because they are always very good.

DO NOT rent a golf cart for Isla Mujeres from these people. We had been to the island several times before and rented a golf cart directly across the street from the dock area. The man renting the golf carts for Ultramar told me to rent from him because the other people had recently moved (LIE) !!! Gomar II is who they promote and they were difficult to locate 3-4 blocks away and their golf cart was trash. Stalled on us in two intersections and at times just would not run. NEVER rent from Ultramar. Walk directly across the street and get your golf cart. Easier to return too! Ferry ride was great. Always on time. Just don’t lie to customers.

Really easy to use. There is one place for you to buy tickets once you arrive. This is the line at 8:50 am to board the 9:00 am to Isla Mujeres. Seems like a lot but the boat holds a lot more. You can Uber to the ferry but Ubers cannot pick you up. If you need to catch an Uber, walk to the nearby Circle K.

We purchased a one way trip for 4. The booth lady said they only have First Class, for MXN 340pp. We bought it thinking, ok, first class. After we turned in our luggages, the lady led us upstairs, the chairs were hard and metallic, but the entertainment (live) was good. Once we reached Playa del Carmen, we saw that there is a First Class area and the cushions and tables are so nice. The ferry is fast, better than Winjet, entertainment is good but they need to segregate their first class customers and put them to where they paid for. So, we wasted MXN money, back and butt were sore from the trip.

No easier or cheaper way to get to Isla Mujeres. We used Carm for our transfer and they had our ferry tickets for us. We walked right on to the ferry. There was plenty of storage space for luggage. Open air seating up top or covered below. Live music. Drinks for purchase. 15-20min and you are there!

The ferry to Ilsa Mujeres was great at 830am from Puerto Juarez. We spent the day on the island and had a blast. However the line up to get back was literally 3 city blocks long! I suspect many stood in line for hours and did not make it on the last ferry. Beware on crazy busy days like Dec 26th. The company should realize how many they have brought to the island and have a plan to get them back.

Ferry is excellent - with air conditioned and very comfortable. Problem is the harbour where you depart/arrive... departure is very confuse. We depart from Playa Caracol, but when returning, we were informed that Playa caracol harbor was closed and ferry could only reach Puerto Juarez, which is far from Playa Caracol, where our car was parked. We needed to take a taxi to pick our car. Apart from this, is the cheapest way to get to Isla Mujeres

Great experience. Opt for first class it gives you first boarding. Worth the extra fee, especially after a long day and you just want to rest while you’re traveling back over to one side or the other.

Highly recommend sitting on top of the ferry to get a great view of the water and Isla Mujeres as you arrive. Staff is very organized, and ferry ride is smooth. They have someone playing live music and a vendor selling drinks for the ride over.

Wasn’t sure what to expect from previous reviews. Bought my tix on line from their website. / we departed from playa caracol as it was an easy walk from hotel. Arrived 30 min early as recommended, & were pleasantly surprised there was as a ferry leaving right away due to peak season. / sat downstairs to avoid the wind, seats were new/cushioned, comfortable , a nice ride about 30 min over. // on the way back, signage wasn’t so good, but ferry back to caracol cancelled due to high tide, so had to catch the one to tortuga instead which meant we had the xtra cost of a $20 taxi to our hotel. Def arrive at least 30 min before departure from island mujeres- the ferry left slightly early since it reached max capacity.
