Location is great. Staff was very nice and responsive. Beds were comfortable. Generous Linens. Great pool. Kitchen not well appointed. Needed more cups, coffee, etc . & seating for our group of 8. Between rooms quiet but running around upstairs was loud

The Weekend is a special place where we experienced kind service, cool decor and comfort. We had a perfect stay. We enjoyed the pool, patio, comfy bed and the well stocked kitchenette. Our two bedroom suite was very clean too. All of the staff we encountered along with the owners were so nice. The location worked really well for us too. The neighborhood is beautiful and it’s a nice walk into the main part of Palm Springs. We look forward to returning soon.

This truly was a Little Paradise. We loved our week stay here. The rooms are so clean and spacious, the comfiest bed/pillows, great counter space in the double sink bathroom and the best shower/jets. Kitchenette was great with everything you need. Pool was so refreshing and well maintained, loved sitting poolside. Grab a banana, coffee anytime from the office and head off for a walk or bike ride (free). Close to downtown Palm Springs. Loved our time here and will be back!! 10 stars! Wendy & Rob

Extremely helpful and friendly, ez check in and check out and well taken care of suites and rooms. Additionally, very convenient location to downtown restaurants, museums, bars and more. Great pool and jacuzzi and continental breakfast. Very well maintained premises. I joined (for the very 1st time) a yoga class which is available about twice a week on the premises. I only wish I would've been able to book a suite as they are a bit larger and have full size kitchen. Would definitely stay again.

Me and my sister had an excellent time at Hotel California. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly. The breakfast that is available in the shared kitchen (for all guests) was great. Fresh fruit, pastries yogurt ect was a nice surprise. And the fresh coffee made each morning was the best coffee ever. Popcorn was freshly made and offered to us as we sat by the pool in the evening. Non alcoholic drinks were always available at anytime. Our room was nice and very clean. Comfortable bed! The property is beautifully lit with lights and candles in the evening. Very peaceful. I can’t say enough about this hotel. We will definitely be back. Thankyou Hotel California! See you soon 🤗

The place was OK, mostly because we find old tired relics amusing and we seemed to have lucked into one of the better units as it was upstairs so no noise from above. Or from the pool, which was totally adequate. Also it was cheap in comparison to other nicer places. But come on, even motel 6 gives you adequate toiletries and does not limit you to one coffee per visit in your room. Nope sorry no more. Have to come down to the office if you want coffee past the first day. The website says it has a vending machine but this is not true, so inconvenient if you want to hang out with a cold drink, but plan ahead. Please note that the description of amenities etc is misleading---it says toiletries, which turned out to be one small tube of shampoo, no conditioner, and a sliver of nasty soap. I was working remotely part of the time, or rather was not, since the wifi is totally unreliable and weak, as others have mentioned. It did smell weird at first, and no vents so cooking smells also lingered as well as the kitchen balcony door did not open. Not particularly dirty, beds were hard and headboard noisy but doable. The kitchen had one of those mini-sets of salt and pepper, both almost empty. Nothing else for cooking. There are convenience/liquor stores nearby but it's a $10 uber ride to get to an actual grocery store and a limited choice of ok but not great restaurants. As it got unusually hot while there, the half hour walk to downtown was not pleasant to find other options, though normally it would be fine. If you're at all elderly or otherwise wobbly you do need a car for touristing. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. An ok stay but it seems it's the luck of the draw whether ok or horrible. Ask questions.

The location is excellent and the place is beautiful in pictures but the "queen" bed was small and very uncomfortable and too high to perch on to put on shoes, let alone easy to get into. The tub is unusable due to it being made out of stone and the kitchen had no microwave to heat up leftovers from meals out or wineglasses. The only items to drink from were two coffee cups. And no TV. Would have liked to have been able to stream movies from our own account in the evenings while drinking a glass of wine, neither of which we were able to do. Wanted to have drinks at the poolside bar one evening and while it was open and others were drinking there, there was no staff when we arrived and none in the "lobby" to ask. After waiting a while we went back to our room and washed our coffee cups from the morning and used them to drink a glass of wine. Disappointing for the price.

My wife and I decided to spend ten days in Palm Springs in February, which is a peak time to visit. Previously we have stayed in Rancho Mirage, in a resort with a golf course (but we don't play golf), but found the accommodations there too expensive, and the nearest grocery store was about a ten minutes' drive; also, for us, Palm Springs is more interesting, with a great art museum, the Agua Caliente cultural centre, the Indian canyons to walk, public parks, an interesting main street, etc. We chose Vista Mirage largely because of Tripadvisor reviews. It's called a "resort" but it's short-term rentals of nice apartments plus a swimming pool: no restaurants, shops, special services, etc. But this was exactly what we wanted. Check-in was efficient and friendly; actually, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our accommodation was on the second floor with a stairway up from the path next to the main swimming pool, which was a great location for us. (When we checked in , we were also offered a ground-floor apartment.) From the stairs, we entered a very small patio, then through the apartment door into a small hallway with an adequately supplied kitchen on the left (electric stove with oven, full-sized refrigerator, sink with garburator, microwave, coffee maker, tableware, pots and pans), and the second bedroom and bathroom on the right. Then the spacious main eating and living area is straight ahead (with a pass-through to the eating area from the kitchen), and then the main bedroom and bathroom to the right off the main living area. There are televisions in the main room and each bedroom, though we didn't find any channels that we wanted to watch. We found everything comfortable. It isn't elegant or fashionable, but that was fine. The main pool is lovely, and, when we were there, rather little used (except by us), though a fair number of people used the poolside to sit and read, or sun themselves. The pool water was usually a pleasantly warm temperature, although the heater was out for a couple of days. The small pool isn't so good for laps if anyone else is in it. There's a nice-looking tennis court which we didn't see anyone using. The landscaping (patches of lawn, a row of citrus trees along the large pool, etc.) is rather minimal but attractive and well kept. (On the Wednesdays there was VERY noisy lawnmowing for an hour or two at midday, which pretty well emptied the pool.) There's lots of free parking, either outside or in rather narrow covered stalls (which worried us about our side car mirrors). What we paid seemed fair for the size, comfort, and location of the property, and the time of year, although there seem to be similar properties with month-long rentals that are less expensive. The clientele was mostly older (like us) which made for a quiet holiday. We'd go again.

This was mostly nice. It's a beautiful place on the whole, staff were great, and our room looked pretty good for a yet-to-be-renovated unit. Maintenance requests were cheerfully attempted, one with success! Two key points of annoyance were: 1 Resort fee - we were not travelling with kids and used no "resort" services. 2 Hot water takes a Long time to reach the kitchen sink. This is not good for the resort: Surely here in the desert it's expensive to flush so much water down the drain, plus much of the heated water never gets used as heated water. It just cools off in the pipe! Also, is cold water even safe to run through the dishwasher? We tried to use the DW right after hand-washing other items, when there would be hot water right there, but surely not everyone does this. Internet was very good. Appliances worked fine, with the odd exception that the dishwasher was always wet inside. Heated drying got the dishes dry enough but never dried the walls and doors of the DW. Keeping phones charged was a bit tricky as most of the outlets had loose fit so they made poor connection or simply would not power the charger. This unit also had the oddest kitchen supplies ever. Very few pots, mostly large, and while 1BRs usually come with 4 of everything, this was true of some items but not others. General Commentary: Is this not a false economy for the resort? Guests end up running the DW all the time, which adds to operating expense. The DW could hold 3x as many dishes thus running 1/3 as much. Anyway, we asked for and received more dinner plates and a toaster. The location is wonderful, with beautiful homes all around and not too far from services. restaurants, etc. It also made a good base for visiting Joshua Tree NP.

Truly a lovely little gem. The best way I can explain it is this - it's like staying at your wealthy friend's compound and they're gone for the weekend. They've left you everything you need. No- there is not a bar or restaurant. Yeah, some of the furniture could use some updating. But if you get to relax in a very peaceful, tranquil setting that feels like you are away from it all...while being within blocks of downtown Palm Springs- you don't care about that. Lovely comfy pool chairs, no people "reserving" them with a bottle of sunscreen at 7am. No one taking selfies at a mile a minute. This place is small with plenty of exterior space for everyone. The grounds are actually prettier in person. We've looked at booking some of the very nearby hotels around them and I snooped around while walking my dog. The other very Instragram-able, slick marketed hotels are actually LESS lovely in person. Sure their firepit might look larger but we actually really enjoyed the in-ground firepit under a huge tree and lovely hanging lights. Our spa was clean and nice. The outdoor private patio was plenty big enough for our dog. Our room had a small bar fridge AND a wine fridge! Those wealthy friends really scored points there. LOL. Bed was super comfy. Even though we were right up against a pool it still felt very private. Room was perfectly clean. Just a wonderful place to staycation. A couple of points- you might get confused at check in but don't worry. Check your text messages for all you need. They do have some wine, champagne and beers available for purchase. One thing I'd do different on our next visit is to bring some bagels, muffins etc for breakfast. There was a nice kitchen in Puka but I had zero interest in cooking so we didn't bring food. However when the sunlight hit the pool in the morning I'd have much preferred to nibble and enjoy my coffee while watching the hummingbirds gather nesting material. Versus have to get dressed and head into PS to get breakfast. Service was excellent- there when we needed them while giving us total privacy and relaxation. We've stayed at some other more expensive P.S hotels with full service bars, restaurants and pool staff. Modern, bougie and chic- style forward. While that can be good sometimes we wanted to try something different. We packed a small cooler and were our own servers. Walking the short distance to our room to get a glass of wine or make a mimosa was easy as can be. They even have a small bar set for cocktail mixing. We didn't stay at Talavera to get blitzed or drink on the cheap. What we wanted was a break from traffic, house work (LOL) and a relaxing trip with our pooch. Peaceful and quiet. Talavera hit that 100%. We'll be staying here from now on.
Wow—thank you for such a thoughtful and beautifully detailed review! We're thrilled that Talavera gave you the perfect mix of relaxation, privacy, and charm, and that it felt like a home away from home. We can’t wait to welcome you and your pup back for another peaceful getaway!
