- LanaiOnce a mere pineapple patch, the red-dirt island of Lanai is an oasis of calm. Reaching the island is difficult - no direct flights from the mainland - but once you arrive, the tropical surroundings are the ideal backdrop for snorkeling and scuba diving, swimming in Hulopoe Bay (a marine preserve), whale watching, horseback riding, golfing, hiking, four-wheeling and exploring the red spires of the Garden of the Gods. The 1920s-era town is small but quaint, and the locals go out of their way to be friendly.Read more
- KapaluaWhere white sand beaches and the glimmering, blue Pacific meet green, lush, volcanic peaks sits Kapalua, Maui. Located on Maui's northwest shore, Kapalua is exclusive, sophisticated and relaxing with activities like golf, tennis, water sports and tropical life that soothe the senses and the soul. Host to the renowned Kapalua Wine & Food Festival, nestled amongst Cook pines and surrounded by acres of pineapple, Kapalua is the perfect getaway. Access to breathtaking nature, outdoor activities and beach-life are why visitors love Kapalua vacation. After a day in the sun, experience an authentic Hawaiian Luau. Feast on traditional foods such as succulent kalua pig cooked in an earthen oven, poi or haupia (coconut pudding). Steep in Hawaiian tradition as you enjoy this long-lived Hawaiian festivity which includes time-honored Hawaiian music, hula dancing and fire dancing. From your accommodations, plan a trip to the Haleakala Volcano; explore the lush vegetation, birds and animals in this protected marine-life conservation district. Follow a walking trail through the paths of ancient lava rivers that have long since cooled And visit the caves, marveling at the stalactites, stalagmites and flowstone. Walking the winding trails of this ancient subterranean river of lava is safe and easy and an enjoyable activity for the entire family. - LahainaLahaina, the former Hawaiian capital, was the center of the global whaling trade, and its Historic District is a National Historic Landmark. Traditional Hawaiian luaus, surf lessons and tours on horseback are fun, but let’s be realistic—you wouldn’t be in Hawaii if you didn’t want to go to the beach. Try Ka’anapali Beach, one of Maui’s best.Read more
- KapaaKapaa, also spelled Kapa'a, means "solid" in Hawaiian. - LihueLihue, Kauai's capital city, is also served by the island's only airport, making it the most popular port of entry to Kauai and a hub of industry on this small island. However, Lihue retains its island charm and emerald beauty despite its urbanization. Spend the day sunbathing and dipping into the temperate waters at Kalapaki Beach before enjoying a luau at Kilohana Plantation. - Shannon CMilwaukee, Wisconsin40 contributionsThe hotel has multiple different towers and has a lot of shopping and dining. We stayed in the Diamondhead tower with a view of the ocean. The room was large and included a separate sitting area and balcony. There is a tiny fridge in the room, but no microwave. The room was clean - but dated. Paint chipping. For two days in the hallway outside our room there was extra furniture stored (not sure why). Our toilet also broke twice. The hotel grounds are crowded. There are 4 pools - but pretty far apart. One pool was in the middle of the towers next to the bar. The larger pool is over near the beach. There is a smaller pool with a water slide near the lagoon and the adult pool is very small and on the fourth floor of one of the towers. The pools are very crowded and getting a chair is hard. Some people came early and put down towels to hold their spot, but staff would remove them if no one is in the chair after an hour. The lagoon is just a big pond to swim in. Good for families, but you do not need to be staying at the Hilton to use the lagoon. Lots of shopping and dining on the property but overall not impressed. The staff was very friendly. One disappointing thing and I know it is very minor, but none of the many tiki torches on the property were ever lit. Other hotels all had tiki torches every night. I asked about it and the staff wasn't sure but said they hadn't been lit since COVID. It just added to the dissapointment. Parking is $70 a night. Save money by parking at the Ala Wa Boat Harbor which is right across the street from the lagoon. It is Public and $1 an hour. You can only do 24 hrs at a time, but after it expires you can just restart it. We only had an issue finding a space on Friday night because of the fireworks, but those are over at 8 and then plenty of spots. It's done through an app so we would estimate the time we were leaving and if needed more time, just used the app. We spent about $12-$16 a day instead of $69. If we go back to Waiki, we would stay elsewhere. The Hale Koa Hotel is right next door (actually their lobby was closer to our tower than the Hilton). We wandered through there. It was newer, quieter, beautiful secluded grounds and a much nicer less crowded pool area with chairs looking to the ocean. There was entertainment every night at the outdoor bar and we sat on our balcony at the Hilton and listened to it. You are just a two minute walk into the Hilton grounds, so you can still access everything there.More Reviews of Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort BeachfrontAloha Shannon, Thank you for staying with us and for providing such a detailed review. - Bella B1 contributionThe Ke Iki Beach Bungalows are such a gem of the north shore. The beach is gorgeous, every morning we walked down to watch the surfers at Pipeline. The staff and daily yoga made the trip so special - I was there for a birthday and they went out and picked up a cake from a local bakery. - Robin R38 contributionsWe stayed at the Moana for my daughter in laws business meetings! From the first moment we fell in love with this beautiful historic hotel! At check in we were treated so well by a gentleman ( missed getting his name)! He was very helpful in securing us a room with a balcony because we had a 17 month old with us. We ate at all the various restaurants on the property and they were all wonderful and very helpful with a toddler! The pool was wonderful as was the beach! We spent a lot of time at both. The location can’t be beat! We loved walking to the stores sometimes and other times to the beach! We enjoyed the zoo, the splash pad in front of Target, in addition to pool/beach time! Maintenance and housekeeping were equally kind and incredibly helpful! I look forward to returning to this hotel !!More Reviews of Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach BeachfrontAloha W335CErobinr, From the moment you arrived, it is a pleasure to know that our team made you feel so well cared for and that your request for a guestroom with a balcony was accommodated. - Rose S8 contributionsWe really were happy with our stay at The Waikiki Park Shore Hotel. Very helpful & accommodating staff, clean , across from the beach, away from the crowds and walking distance to all the other hotels, shops , restaurants and buses along Waikiki Beach. We really did not need a car. They offer free beach chairs, umbrellas, floats & towel rentals. Reasonably priced too.More Reviews of Park Shore Waikiki Hotel BeachfrontAloha Rose S.
