Oak and Grist creates small batch artisan spirits using locally malted grains. We've crafted each of our recipes to showcase a distinctively Appalachian character that speaks to our regions history and its native flavors. Our spirits aim to reward the curious and excite the connoisseur, while fostering a stronger connection between producer, consumer, and place.

We craft dry ciders and sessionable meads from local apples and honey in an old furniture factory nestled among the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western NC. Our ciders and meads harmonize fresh flavors with traditional wisdom. We ferment cider in small batches blended from heirloom apples harvested throughout the season to make cider that is real, never filtered, pasteurized, or tainted with added sugars, concentrates, or manufactured flavors. With mead, we focus on lower-gravity sessionable meads (also called hydromels), which are often less sweet and more approachable than traditional, higher-gravity meads. Our approach to this oldest of beverages is steeped in tradition but guided by modern sensibilities, inspiring us to combine the choicest local honey with flavors like coffee, almond, pistachio, sweet potato, and beet to produce craft beverages that stand alone in a crowding market. A local arts focussed community center that offers classes and workshops for artists of all ages. We have been operating out of the old Black Mountain City Hall for over 2 decades. Swannanoa Valley Museum has served the western North Carolina community since 1989 as Buncombe County's primary museum of general local history. Open Tuesday - Saturday 10:00am - 5:00pm Seasonally - Open by appointment only in winter.

The Red House is the home of the Swannanoa Valley Art League, a not-for-profit arts organization. We are an all-volunteer organization with 6 exhibitions each year open to all our members. The Red House houses our gallery and 15 working artist studios.
