    • Horton Point Lighthouse Nautical Museum
      The Nautical Museum at 1857 Horton Point Lighthouse, operated by Southold Historical Museum, is open 11:30-4:00, Sat., Sun. Memorial Day weekend to mid-Sept. The Museum is filled with artifacts from the North Fork’s rich nautical past. The tower is 58 feet tall and offers sweeping views of the Long Island Sound. The lower level of the Keeper's House contains maritime exhibits including baymen’s tools, chests, harpoons, lighthouse lenses, models and information about the treacherous waters just off-shore, known as Dead Man’s Cove. A large anchor out front was salvaged from the shipwreck of the Commodore, and a whaling house on the grounds includes the full-sized skull of a fin whale. Suggested admission is $5 adult/$10 families and includes entry to the nearby Maple Lane Complex of historic buildings at 55200 Main Rd., Southold. Seasonal $5 parking available at Southold District lot. Street parking is by Southold Park District permit ONLY year-round.
