In 2015 the humanitarian photographer Joseba Etxebarria settles in Battambang, Cambodia, aware of his degree of responsibility towards the "voiceless". Convinced that he has the necessary tools to create a space with the power to inspire change, in June 2017 he founded Human Gallery in the city of Battambang, a magical place where he shares his work, as well as the human stories that there is behind Human Gallery collects many of the photographs that Joseba took during his world tour for Human Rights (2010-2022). * 20% of the sale of the photographs exhibited in the gallery, or on the web, is used to cover the education of the children who are beneficiaries of our children's project "Wings for the future".

ROMCHEIK 5 is nominated in the TOP 10 BEST INDEPENDENT Art spaces in S.E. Asia and N° 1 in Cambodia (The Guardian / November 2017) ! Romcheik 5 is the name of the neighbourhood of Battambang where, in 2012, 4 young artists have established their studios with the help of a donor. In 2015, this space has been extended with the construction of a building sheltering an art gallery and since October 2018 a real Museum with a permanent collection of their best artworks. On rooftop you will find a nice Café with a large scale of foods and drinks .The entrance to the all site is charged 5$ (discount 2 $ 50), to contribute to the maintenance of the premises and the purchase of artist materials.

Wat Banan temple away from Battambang city about 25km. It’s a 358-stone-step climb up Phnom Banan to reach Prasat Banan, but the incredible views across surrounding countryside from the top are worth it. Udayadityavarman II, son of Suryavarman I, built Prasat Banan in the 11th century; some locals claim the five-tower layout here was the inspiration for Angkor Wat, although this seems optimistic.

Wat Ek Phnom is 11km from Battambang?s ferry landing by the shortest route and 21km if you go via the Pepsi plant and Pheam Ek. Combining both makes for a nice 32km circuit.

Ta Dumbong Kro Aung Statue ( Black man Statue ) Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire, Battambang is the leading rice-producing province of the country. For nearly 100 years it was a major commercial hub and provincial capital of Siamese province of Inner Cambodia (1795-1907), though it was always populated by Khmer, with some ethnic Vietnamese, Lao, Thai and Chinese. Battambang remains the hub of Cambodia’s northwest, connecting the region with Phnom Penh and Thailand.
