THE 10 BEST Hotels in District VII / Jewish Quarter (Budapest) 2025
District VII / Jewish Quarter Hotels
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, Minnesota7,609 contributionsFascinating Neighborhood with Europe's Largest Synagogue and Famed Ruin PubsBudapest's Jewish Quarter also known as District VII is an amazing blend of history and tradition and also provides for some of the most energetic nightlife that you will find in the city. You will find here the beautiful Doheny Street Synagogue built in the 1850s in a Moorish Revival style and it is the largest synagogue in Europe. However, this is also the neighborhood to find Budapest's famed "ruin pubs" that have been created from old, abandoned buildings. It's a hip scene with the perfect combination of grit and style. The first and most famous of the ruin pubs in SzimplaKert which is well worth experiencing. However, there are many other options including Mika Kert which is a laid-back beer garden creating a great ambience.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 27, 2024
- Francesco GMatera, Italy90 contributionsVery interestingThe Jewish Quarter is definitely worth visiting, especially if you find a guided tour. (I found one on GetYourGuide for only 2 euros + tip). It was very nice and interesting to discover the history of Hungarian Jews and Budapest before entering for a visit to the great synagogueVisited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 21, 2024
- Marek_ZGZielona Gora, Poland2,002 contributionsThriving Erzsébetváros!!!You cannot explore Budapest properly within 2 days. With so many sights to see, I have opted to review and rate the Jewish Quarter. Why? Because it is the smallest in Budapest, yet with the highest population density. It is also home to numerous historic landmarks and the second largest synagogue in the world.Visited October 2024Traveled on businessWritten October 24, 2024

- Margaret Island HotelsFor Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.Read more
