    Shopping options galore!
This shopping area is massive, with an extensive selection of shops offering major global brand names. There are also many cafes and restaurants scattered throughout, making it easy to take a break and grab a bite to eat. However, we recommend avoiding weekends and peak times, as it can get incredibly busy, with people walking in all directions, making it difficult to navigate. Additionally, there are some old, magnificent architectural buildings interspersed between the shops, adding to the charm of the area.

    Gran Via, Madrid…..
One of the main streets in Madrid. We were staying at the Riu Plaza Espana which is on Gran Via. When we came out of our hotel we were right in the thick of the Madrid hustle and bustle. Lots to see and do here. Bars, restaurants and shops. Beautiful architecture. Very highly recommended.

    Worth the walk!
We went down Gran Via on our last day in Madrid. Its packed with shops on both sides. Great people watching. The architecture was amazing, just look up. If you ever saw the Netflix show Velvet, they would take shots of this street, its beautiful. Just walked it didn't shop but plenty to do.

Posh shopping, but still worth visiting for the architecture.
The Great Lane is one of Madrid’s main shopping streets, but also home to many cinemas, theaters, musicals, night clubs and bars. Its construction started in 1910 and starts in the East at Alcalá Street and stretches West to Plaza Espana Square
I am not one for shopping but still appreciated a walk down this one due to the impressive and sometimes quirky Art Nouveau and Art Deco facades that front a lot of the banks, offices and apartment buildings along its length. And then Plaza Espana Square is also home to a major intersection station on the Madrid Metro, that will get you back to most other parts of town.

    Iconic
Is impossible to go to Madrid and not walk in Gran Via at least once. All the buildings are gorgeous (don't forget to look up to see the sculptures, and down to the genius intervention they created in the sidewalk). Everything you need you'll find, the best stores and good food options, the metro and the 001 bus, that is free and take you to the main locations downtown!

    Shopping Spree
Although we had little interest in shopping when Madrid Trip Planners created our personalized travel plan. Our trip planner, Erkut exceeded our expectations, he fused the shopping experience with the aesthetic design of the Gran Via. He was also able to get us exclusive entrance to a rooftop bar that's usually booked a week ahead. Overall the experience was amazing thanks to Madrid Trip Planners and Erkut.

    Unavoidable
If you spend more than a few minutes in Madrid, it is likely you’ll find yourself on Gran Via. It is busy, it has a lot of shopping opportunities, and it has a lot of chain stores that can be found in every major city. If you are looking for “iconic” pictures to share on social media, this is where you can find a lot of them. If you are looking for the history, architecture, and natural beauty that is unique to Madrid, Gran Via is an efficient way to get to those destinations.

    Great Way
My hotel, the Hyatt Centric Gran via Madrid was located in Gran Via, so it gave me direct access to the street. Located on the street are several shops, restaurants, cafes, theaters, hotels and of course the famous Schweppes sign. The sidewalks were jammed with people during the day and evening, but I have to say, the architecture on this street is fantastic.

    Gran Buildings
The Gran Via is a long street lined with shops, restaurants and hotels. Many of the buildings are visually appealing, just beautiful designs and architecture. It is well worth a stroll. However, don't look up too much as you will likely bump into a person. The street is very crowded. All in all, worth a visit.

  • Centro Hotels
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

  • Chamberí Hotels
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighborhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.

  • Malasaña Hotels
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
