Know before you go
Think of "The Blue Mountains" and you may picture winter, when this area is overrun with skiers and snowboarders carving up powdery slopes from bunny to pro. But other seasons have just as much appeal. Spring and summer bring out the hikers and bikers, and fall has its own cozy thing going with apple picking. The town of Blue Mountains is a single municipality that covers Thornbury, Christie Beach, Clarksburg, Heathcote, and Ravenna. In terms of lodging, the most famous is the ski resort called--you guessed it--Blue Mountain. But plenty of other local options exist including ski-resort lodges, slopeside condos, widely known chains, plus cozy B&Bs and modest motels.
