I've visited many different places in Slovakia and the most glaring deficit is with customer service, countrywide. This is not the case with this location. From the moment we arrived by car and were greeted to the point of leaving 3 days later, the experience was as it should be if not exceptional. To me, this kind of customer service surrounded by a culture that struggles with it totally stands out. What makes this perhaps the best experience ever is their breakfast. This may be one of the best breakfast preparations we've ever experienced. Yes, the views are exceptional as is the location. Loved the pool as did our kids. One thing, they don't have coffee makers in the rooms.

When you stay at a Kempinski Hotel, your expectations are already elevated. Yet, this marvelous hotel set along the picturesque Strbske Pleso still exceeded our expectations. The hotel is gorgeous, blending old world charm with modern conveniences. But more than anything else, it is the staff and impeccable service that made our stay so special. We were there to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary, and Alexandra surprised us with a bottle of sparkling Riesling and strawberries in our room. It was a wonderful and delicious surprise! Dinner was excellent and breakfast was insanely good. The spa is lovely, and it has one of the most stunning views we’ve ever seen in a spa. Laying in the comfy lounge chairs and staring out at the lake was fabulous. Our only quibble would be that the spa pool is the hotel’s only pool, so there were a lot of babies and young children in the pool. This didn’t create the tranquil environment we want from a spa. They don’t really have an option since it’s the one pool, and they do have adult only hours at night, but those hours overlapped with dinnertime. To note, the good far outweighs this one complaint, and we loved our stay. It deserves repeating, the staff are an absolute joy and made our stay incredibly memorable.

The journey to get here is a bit longer but well worth it. The hotel has a great spa and super comfortable rooms with soft mattresses and light duvets. The large pool offers panoramic views of the mountains. The restaurant and bar offer a good mix of food and drinks and the bar is very cozy. The only thing I think can be improved is the service in the restaurant; it is a bit slow at times.

Unique location in the High Tatras adjacent the picturesque glacial mountain lake Štrbské Pleso. Luxurious rooms and service with a spectacular complementary breakfast. Dinner at the hotel made us feel bad physically during the night. The whirl pool in the spa didn't really work during the whole stay and the brink of it smelled from urine for several days despite kind complaints. We got compensated by a voucher for a spa treatment. However, this experience was disappointing and affects the grading that would have been different without this issue.

Dear JanHolstebro, we would like to thank you for your honest feedback in regards to the received services in our hotel during your stay. We are pleased to hear that you have enjoyed fantastic location of the hotel lying straight on the shore of lake Strbske Pleso and excellent Kempinski breakfast where our guest can choose out of more than one hundred items of traditional and local specialties. Thus, we are very sorry to hear that you haven't enjoyed the dinner served in Grand Restaurant. I can rest-assure that we are using only the highest quality products and everything is freshly prepared for each day. We deeply apologize for technical shortfalls in spa area which we consulted directly with Spa Manager, as this is an outlet not managed by Kempinski. Dear JanHolstebro, we do hope we are able to proof you better during one of your future stay at our beautiful venu at High Tatras. With best regards, Kathrin Noll, General Manager

Tried to book a room for two 2 months before but it was booked full. So after a full day we decided to have dinner here and indulge ourselves a bit. Came to the restaurant severely underdressed (since it was a last minute decision, after walking around the lake) but thankfully the sommelier/restaurant manager let us in. Service was impeccable - our waitstaff was Mariyama and she was extremely attentive and unintrusive. The salad was refreshing - crisp vegetables with white asparagus beetroots rhubarbs radishes and peas lightly dressed. Trout was a bit hard but I guess I shouldn’t have ordered it cos it’s a land locked country. The kempinski pasta was great if your hungry. Hearty meal with fresh truffles on top. The signature dessert is interesting - looks like a forest with a cream mousse hidden under the chocolatne log. It’s costly compared to normal restaurants here but it’s the experience which counts.
