Beautiful lodge set on a special piece of property. Services are really top notch. Staff are genuinely friendly, personal, attention to detail without being pretentious. Just a really enjoyable and comfortable stay. The golf course is in amazing condition, great job renewing the course over the last 6 months! Would definitely be back again!
Incredible stay, food amazing and lodgings immaculate. We stayed for one night and experienced breakfast, lunch and dinner. My wife and I will be back and would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy one of New Zealands premium lodgings.
Set in a spectacular hilltop setting overlooking Hawke Bay and Kidnappers Golf Course, this is one of those special places that will imprint on memory like few other accommodation experiences. The food is superb, the staff and organisation is without doubt at the pinnacle of fine service. Nothing was too much trouble and requests were simply responded with, "of course". Room service was provided inconspicuously but regularly (like towels replaced and bed remade while at breakfast). Just couldn't fault the place.
We were given a gift voucher for lunch from our lovely daughters. The 15 minute drive up to the restaurant is stunning. We were met by staff in the car park and given a tour of the complex before having a wine from an incredibly comprehensive wine list. The three course lunch was selected by James Honore, the amazing chef. We had peppered Whitianga tuna with cucumber, daikon pickle, soy and shallot dressing followed by Heritage bred pork with apple brassicas cider, then, Black Doris plum tart tartin with macadamia, streusel and smoked vanilla ice cream. There were also complimentary breads and sweets and coffee. It was all stunningly delicious and much of the ingredients were locally sourced. We ate in the loggia with panoramic views over the golf course and Hawke’s Bay. The views are absolutely breathtaking. We were invited to walk around the stunning grounds. The staff were truly amazing, attentive but not in your face. They were all very knowledgeable about the location and food and wine. Faultless. This will be our “go to” venue to impress our visiting friends.…
Amazing experience, the facilities, decor, food, spa were all absolutely amazing but most of all the staff were friendly, welcoming and made you feel completely comfortable. It was a once off for us but after staying, we will definitely be back again.
Everything at The Farm was top-notch - an amazing secluded location with incredible views, fantastic accommodation and facilities, great staff and service and beautiful food. The large infinity pool and spa pool were highlights, The outlook from the lodge, the pools and almost everywhere else on the site - including the rooms - were just gorgeous. The grounds were very peaceful, with loads of tuis and birdlife. We did a cross-country walk to the golf course and hired eco-bikes to ride out to Black Reef to see the gannet colony. The food and service were outstanding. You expect these things when you stay at a luxury lodge but they aren't always delivered. The Farm did not disappoint in any respect.
We had a fabulous stay - superb food, wine, walks, spa and accommodation. The Lodge team are excellent hosts and are very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The attention to detail is impressive and we will definitely visit again.
I had a 90-minute relaxation massage at the lodge spa 4 days back. Disappointing is an absolute understamement! Having had numerous massages in multiple countries and various spas, I know what to expect from a top notch spa and this sadly has to be by far the most disappointing one! For the price charged and the reviews online, I expected something else entirely. The masseuse didn't seem to have a clue about what she was doing. She was all over the place. Started with my legs, did the body, went to the head, went back to the feet and then again back to the shoulders. Didn't pay particular attention to the areas to be focused on which was stated on their info request form. The massage bed was heated and I was not asked if the temperature was ok for me. I wasn't offered anything to drink at the beginning of the massage and by the end of the massage I was dehydrated and sweaty! What a sick feeling to end up with after a massage! The masseuse mentioned she would give me a face massage but decided not to in the end for some reason and just kept quiet. Why mention it if you have no intention of following through?! I had asked for no oil on my head or face. The lady was so lazy to wash her hands after the body massage. She just wiped her hands on a towel and gave me a head massage with her oily hands and I ended up with oily hair and some even on my face that she touched accidentally. No apologies given for this at all. At the end of the massage I was not asked if I wanted the oil left on me or if I wanted it wiped off with a warm towel or atleast offered a shower. Ever heard of giving the customer the choice??! After the massage I was told I could help myself to a glass of water if I want. The masseuse was a snooty, snobby lady and very fake in her conversation with me. And after all this, they had the audacity to put out a form asking for gratuities! What a joke! If I enjoy the service received I have no hesitation to offer gratuities but after such insulting behavior and a ridiculous massage there was no way I would... While waiting in front of the reception for my husband to pick me up after the massage, the front desk girl from the spa I had met tried opening the door to the reception and asked if it was locked for me. She said it was very weird for it to be locked. The guy at the reception probably heard me talking to my husband on the phone describing my experience at the spa and decided to lock the door! LOL! Poor show for a renowned lodge. Unfortunately the staff either make or break the place. My experience in a nutshell at the spa at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers... All smoke and mirrors and no real substance or even the faintest idea of proper service!…
I've been fortunate enough to have stayed at one of the other Robertson Lodges and The Farm is my certainly my favourite. It is absolute luxury. Yes its expensive, but worth it if you are celebrating a special occasion. Everything about our two night stay was perfect, from the moment we arrived until the time we (sadly) had to depart. The villas are spacious, tranquil & private with exceptional views (even from the bath!) We made the most of the golf course, walking and cycling tracks - which helped to work up an appetite for the gourmet food that the chefs produced three times a day.
If you ever have the opportunity to visit The Farm at Cape Kidnappers make sure you do. It is a wonderful experience, the lodge is gorgeous, the views are stunning, the staff are outstanding, the golf is great and the overall atmosphere is casual luxury. Do it is you can.
