The Horse and Farrier was my mother in law's favourite *spot* as she called it in keswick. In fact within a 20 mile radius. For the past 10 years we had been taking her every week for lunch at The Horse and Farrier. She absolutely tefused to go anywere else. Unfortunately at the age of 94 she passed away in May... More

We were banished to the annex across the road. Our room was above the kitchen, smelly, hot and noisy until the wee hours. The "en suite" was possibly the smallest I've ever encountered. All the junior staff were lovely by the management somewhat snotty.

We arrived at the Horse & Farrier for our weekend stay in the Lakes. We were greater by pleasant and friendly staff who showed us around our room. Room 4 was lovely and very inviting, it even had biscuits in the room along with tea, coffee, decaf and hot chocolate making facilities. We dined in the charming restaurant that evening... More

Having stayed some years ago, I wanted to return for a short break and was very pleased. We booked a room with a large bed and were pleasantly surprised to find it also had a sofa, really nice when you are used to having to sit on a bed to read. This is a Jennings brewery pub and therefore had... More

Stayed for a week in Keswick and found this pub on the first night. When you find something this good, no need to try and find anywhere else. We therefore booked our evening meal for every night the next week. Huge choice of food, never managed to eat all of the choices we would have loved to have tried. We... More

Small twin bed room, continuous noise from A/C system meant we had to keep window closed on 2 hot and humid nights (but could still hear droning noise) Tiny wardrobe with hanging bar which kept coming off its housing. No hairdryer but luckily I had packed my own but found the sockets were nowhere near the mirror making it impossible... More

We spent two great nights here last week. We ate in the bar both nights for dinner and for both breakfasts and hung out a little in the bar. Three things: 1) Thanks for understanding food allergies and having gluten-free bread - amazing! 2) Please thank the gentleman on the second bar stool from the right for recommending a trip... More

My wife and I stayed in a cottage in Scales, which is a 25 minute walk from the village of Threlkeld. During our weeks holiday we had multiple lunches and dinners at the Horse and Farrier and the service and quality of food was always excellent. The real ales were also served in good condition. My favourite was the Sneck... More

Called in for lunch while passing through the village, it is quite expensive, beer at over £4 a pint and main courses around £15.00, Fish and chips around £12.00 and nowhere near worth it. It looks rather tired and in need of a lick of paint. Best to call into Keswick down the road and eat at half the price,... More

We were staying close by in early July and walked firstly to book a table and secondly to get some liquid refreshment. The former proved very easy and the latter very enjoyable. The weather was good enough to sit outside under the imposing shadow of Blencathra, a very enjoyable thing to do. Later in the week we returned for a... More
